Topic: UPDATE! My doorpods/sub box project (pics)
my roommate got a digital camera.. so I thought I'd snap some shots of what I have so far,and get some input from you guys.. keep in mind, this is my first fiberglass project. The door pods are finished, and screw into the stock location of my 97 delsol. They will house some BA Rally components.. The sub box fits behind the seats where some storage bins used to be. They will house some eD 11kv.2's.. questions? comments? let me know what you think! -------------------- Jay Visaria University of Florida Electrical Engineering

Wow! That looks really good, especially for a first project. My first few projects went straight to the trash can. -Matt

Looking good man keep up the good work. How far down in grit did you sand down too? Looks a little skratchy in the first pic. Good work though. Jason -------------------- **In Loving Memory of Greg Welch** II Grad, June '02

yeah i could use a little help with that.. i sanded the clear with 1500 then 2000, then used turtle wax polishing compound. I tried using a rubbing compound before the polishing compound, but it left the surface scratchier than the 2000 grit paper did... So i just went straight from 2000 to polishing compound. I havent waxed them just yet... think that will help? -------------------- Jay Visaria University of Florida Electrical Engineering

PICS! We won't take your word for it, it's not approved until we SEE it. Seriously, I'd like to see some pics of the final waxed product, please.

mister_B, thats some EXPENSIVE vinyl dye! the cap on the can showed a navy blue..but it just doesnt look like it does it? I thought it would be okay..but now that things are coming together it does look a little off. For now it is going to stay that way... in the future when i am not feeling lazy I will probably try to repaint something that matches a little better. I painted a bunch of other stuff, so it doesnt look too funny.. but i still want something darker i think. Anyone know how to remove vinyl paint? -------------------- Jay Visaria University of Florida Electrical Engineering

the reason i made the pods was so that i wouldnt have to cut my door... the pods screw into the factory speaker baskets behind the door panel. -------------------- Jay Visaria University of Florida Electrical Engineering
