Whats the 9.1 inches for? Anyway you take half of what you're final size is and use that as a guide...For example, if u wanted a 12" hole, you would put a nail or screw in the center of where you're hole will be and tie a string to it. Then u measure half of what u want your hole to be...so if u want a 12" hole, measure 6" of string. Then just hold a pencil or a scribe and rotate a circle around the screw and this will give u a exact circle...then just drill a hole and cut it out with a jig saw.

kinda. but a 12" sub doesnt take a 12" hole. its more like 11 1/8
So he obviously needs a cut out for a 10" sub. 9.1 eh.
Take a piece of cardboard(cereal box style) poke a hole and poke another hole that is 4.55 inches away.(so just a nick over 4.5".) Get a nail and put it in one hole, pencil in the other and make a circle. If u want ur circle dead center, make a big X in pencil from corner to corner of the plain. Match up the one hole/nail and giver. thats it thats all

And when cutting it out with a jig saw, TAKE YOUR TIME and cut RIGHT ON or just over the line. When a company says 9.1" they mean it. 9" will be too small!

I use a RotoZip with a circle jig. It'll do the job every time - easily, quickly, and perfectly. It's a good investment if you do a lot of boxes. Patience with a jigsaw is usually good enough though.

the router with a straight cutting bit with a circle jig is the only way to do it you can make your holes perfect and within 3 or 4 min with the frist cuz of setting it up and likee a minute for the second one makes life a lot earier versus using a jig saw and then finding out that the hole is to small /big trying to make it fit right you all know how it goes all i did to make my circle jig was used 2 metal rods 2 ft long so i havee plennty of room for big holes cut two pieces of mdf 2X6 or so mounted them between the pieces of mdf with countersunk holes drilled them together mabyee took half an hr cuz i couldndt find the right sh!t but time well spent then put a hole in the middle where you put your screw through set your depth and wow you just made a perfect circle everytime with no blemishes Posts: 102 | From: ND | Registered: Apr 2002
