In order to do the door panels and the trunk...you are going to use alot of fiberglass. Especially if you use multiple layers. Just think...you'll need about a 3'x3' piece for one layer on one door panel...thats 9 sq. ft. So add it up. If u want 2 or 3 or however many layers u want take that into account. If you are going to be buying alot of fiberglass and resin...i would suggest u check with a marine suppy place and see if you can buy it by the foot and get it alot cheaper than the packs at Home Depot and Lowes. You can also buy the resin by the gallon for cheaper, but sometimes you have to bring your own can if the supplier pumps it out of a drum...

You need to go to a fiberglass supplier and get your materials, it will cost you way less and you should have a ton of them in south florida.

$7 for 8sq ft is a total rip-off! That's the regular price at a department store, but go to a fiberglass supplier and you'll get 12 sq ft for $3.

Check out http://www.uscomposites.com/ they're in West Palm Beach, FLA and have about the best prices you can get without buying at wholesale.

how many layers would be safe, if i were to make something with curves, its going to be an amp/sub enclosure.

For a sub enclosure made just out of fiberglass...I would say use about 7 layers depending on the size. The amp rack doesnt need as many layers, just enough to keep it sturdy and prevent it from flexing when the amp is mounted...about 3 on the amp rack will be fine. If you are doing your door panels and plan on glassing over them...i would say about 3 for that too.

Depends which materials you use.

2oz chopped mat, probably 4 or 5 layers (1/8" thick or so)

Knytex, 3 layers (again, 1/8" thick)
