Will it mold to a glassed round shape? I think my cheapo desk is made of it. But I can't tell what it will do.

Veneer is really thin wood you need to stain and finish, laminate is the plastic stuff they use on desks and stuff.

Veneer won't flex much. But laminate is probably what you mean, so it should conform, but with careful heat.

I have done quite a bit of refinishing of antiques and so forth, from experiance I know that Veneer can be shapped around bends and slight anlges. You need to work it through a hot water bath and very slowly easy it to shape. Radical corners arent possible/practical but you can get a decent bend out of it. Its going to be tricky to do what your trying to do, but not impossible. Have you picked out a grain or a stain yet? Curious to see how it turns out, please keep us updated. Good luck with your project.

If you want a wood look, there are plenty of people in the custom auto/hot rod industry that do woodgraining, where they use paints and handpaint various woodgrain patterns.

That's about the least frustrating way to do it.

There are also companies that do the wood dash kits who will also do your custom pieces, they use a process where a printed image is imprinted onto the surface of the part.

Actually, this isn't going in a car. I'm building a computer system and can't help but to want to use glass. I just saw veneer in Parts Express cat. that looked similar to what was on my desk. My shape isn't going to be crazy. I'm going to look into the other things suggested in the post. Thanks
