I am looking at trading my alpine CD player and getting a LCD screen and DVD player.
I wanted to mount both teh Indash LCD screen and DVD palyer in the factory radio location. Both are 1 din in size. I have seen pics of rangers with 2 din size HU in it.
Can this be done and how? Please let me know thanks?

As far as I know, 95 and newer rangers all have the same radio bezel, and it's a 1.75 DIN size - I have a '97 Mazda truck which is the same thing.
If you've seen 2 DIN units in rangers, they must have cut the radio bezel open a little more to get it to fit. I tried getting my 1 DIN HU and 1 DIN remote EQ face in there and it just wasn't gonna work.

figured so...
so i will keep my alpine and go drop screen then.
So M pipes can you see how a drop screen could possibly be put in a ranger? I know beacuse of the gradual slope of our roofs its going ot be a difficult but it can be done. I would think?

they sell custom fit ones that hook right up to the cieling. they should have them for that application.

If I can mount my HU, EQ, two amps, two 1F capacitors, and all power distribution to my ceiling, you can mount a drop screen!
There's no reason you couldnt do it, but the screen is going to end up in the way of the rear view mirror, if that matters to you.. doesnt matter to me at all.
Some guys with rangers are using Explorer overhead consoles, I think I've seen a couple of the generic flip-down screens used too.
Personally, I'd go a little more custom and build something that's a bit more tightly integrated with the rest of the interior.. like cutting a hole out of the headliner so the screen can be recessed a bit while foled up, and building my own trim panel to fit in there, covering up the edges of the hole and fitting around the screen nicely.

you could also do like i did and rip off your rear view mirror and replace it with an 8 inch touch screen monitor. whats that you say? how will you see behind yourself? why youd replace your trunk key cylinder with a video camera and feed it to the screen!

ive been pulled over with my rear view monitor. even used to work with cops on a regular basis and i showed it to a few of them. they all thought it was really cool. none of them couldnt think of a law against it in fact one officer told me it was actually told me it was a safety feature.

It's illegal here atleast, and probably is also in most places. There is not supposed to be any video displayed where it can be viewed by the driver. That's unfortunately how the law is written even though in the case of a rear-view camera it can aid safety. I plan doing rear vision a little less intrusively than replacing a key cylinder. (It's a truck so I have none.) My screen will be down low in a custom console and i will have a removable (.. possible magnetic or using grille guides) cover so as to not make my 73's in a 45 zone any worse on myself!
