What is this marhyde? I have read some posts talking about it but I never understood what it is. What is its purpose in car stereo? What things can be done with it? I am not even sure I spelled it right.

Marhyde is acctually a company, and they produce a rubberized soundeadener/undercoating, They also produce an adhesive that is a very good surround glue.
These are the only products they make that I am aware of that are used in the car audio industry.

Thanks for the help. I didn't know they were a company but I know what undercoating is. The spray can rubber stuff that is designed for under the car but some people use for sound deadening material, right? How does it work for sound deadening? If I remember right it is dirt cheap for what you get. Is that right?

Be careful, the stuff's pretty messy. It also leaves a smell for a few days afterwards.
It is a viable alternative to expensive sprays, but I wouldn't recommend using too much of it. You'd be better off using mat for most of your deadening, using the spray in hard to reach spots where the mat is not practical.

I'm from a little place called Kenyon. You probably don't know where it's at, but it's about 15 miles from Faribault. Kinda right between Rochester and the Cities.
I'm trying to figure out where Middle River is, I'm drawing a blank.

Middle River is way up in the nortwest corner of the state. I live about an hour's drive from Canada. It's close to the towns Warroad, Roseau, and Thief River Falls if that means anything to you. Middle River is a small town with a population of 285.

Yeah, I know about where you're talking about. We got about 1,600 people in my town, so I feel you with the small town thing. At least I'm not too far from major cities. I haven't been up in that part of the state, is there much around?
BTW, I've noticed alot of people from MN on here, more than Sounddomain, and I've been there for a long time. I guess the scene in MN is stronger than I thought. I don't compete, so I guess I'm not really in on everything, but I'm redoing my car, hoping to hit a few comps and car shows next season.

I kind of have to laugh when I hear that, not in bad way. It is not like you may think. There are many things in the area and towns of reasonable size. There are many things to do and suprisingly, quite a few car stereo shops in the area. I like it up here, probably more than I would down there by big cities. Probably because I enjoy the many fishing and hunting opportunities in the area. Yes, there are quite a few people from MN on here, most of them in the southern part of the state. I have never competed. I have been to a local db Drag and it was a joke. Not many people around here have any clue what they are doing but most of them think they do.

I didn't mean any offense by that question, I hope you didn't take it that way.
I don't mind the small town, nice and quiet but sometimes I need a little more action. There's plenty of good fishing around here, that's something I enjoy too (wish I had more time for it). I'm sure it can't compare to some of the lakes up north, I'd like to take a trip up there sometime.
I know how you feel about clueless people. I'm not claiming to know everything 'cause I don't. You can always learn something new, I'm sure I'll have plenty to learn about competing if I go that direction next season. But I'm also not a pompous a$$hole who thinks I know everything.

I didn't take any offense. I just found it kind of funny cause I have lived here my whole life and am used to it. I hope I don't come across as a person who thinks he knows everthing, those are the kind of people that poison the industry. If you like fishing you will have to take a trip to Lake of The Woods for Muskie. That is an awesome lake to fish on.

It's not like this is the most exciting place in the world, it gets pretty boring around here too. But like you said, I'm used to it.
My boss has a little cabin and houseboat on Lake of the Woods, I'd love to go up there sometime. He does alot of musky fishing, he does pretty well up there.

If you go to Lake of The Woods, you have to go muskie fishing. I assume your boss is probably pretty into it, as most get when they try it. It is an amazing fish. First time you see or catch one you will be hooked. Something you will have to do sometime in your lifetime.
