A CLOSE FREND OF MINE CAPTURED NATIONAL ATTENTION LAST WEEK WHEN SAMANTHA DETZLER CAME MISSING LAST SATERDAY NIGHT IN LANSING MICHIGAN AND THIS PAST WEDSDAY AT 8:30 AM THE BAD NEWS CAME AT 4:30 AM THAT THEY FOUND HER DEAD IN IN A WOODED AREA 15 MILES AWAY COVERED IN BRUSH AND WAS 15 FEET OF THE ROADWAY IT WAS SHE WAS ONLY 12 YEARS OLD AND THE SAME DAY STEVEN GILBERT WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH OPEN MURDER BUT SADLEY A GIRL HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM THIS EARTH FOR NO REASON AT ALL SHE WAS SHE WAS STRANGLED TO DEATH THE FAMILY HAD NO INSURANCE POLICY ON HER YOU FIGURE YOU DONT NEED ONR ON SOMEONE THAT YOUNG BUT NOW ADAYS YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE ARE OUT THERE AND TO LET EVERYONE KNOW GET YOUR KIDS FINGER PRINTED AND ALSO HAVE A RESENT PICTURE FOR THE POLICE TO HAVE I HAVE KNOWEN HER FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND SHE WAS A FUNNY KIND OF GIRL THE GUY WHO DID THIS JUST GOT OUT OF PRISON LAST YEAR WHO SPENT 8 YEARS FOR ASSAULT TO GREAT BODALY HARM LESS THEN MURDER ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE AND PLEASE DONT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR CHILD

i know she was a good person did not deserve to die she was just starting life and now it was taken away by a person that that did not deserve to get out of prison

ya its kinda freaky for me, my son is still very young..and lansings' not far from me at all. ( i know it can happen ne were but to hear it happen like that so close scares me )

Yeah, when I have kid's Im walking around strapped with a 12ft rope tied to my kids. Want to mess with me? I can strangle and suffocate or shoot and watch bullets go zoom.

my sorrows and prayers go out to you and your friends. hopefully, justice will be served in prison when they find out what he did to a little girl. they will take care of him their way. either way, there is still a lost soul that wasnt ready to go yet

Michigan as a state is horrible, they have no real police force. The only things they do is traffic tickets + drug court + friend of the court (aka child support / spousel support) and thats about it. You can rob a bank real easy here, mug someone and get away with it, rape someone and get away, etc. In fact grand rapids is real popular for getting bank robbery, they have multiple ones per month now. Why? Because the cops just pulled you over for going 9mph over.....someone is dead, someone is raped, because the officer doesn't know how to do his job. The police really have no clue what to do besides draw guns and fire bullets. One officer @ Wesco got a large slushee, 3 donuts, and a bag of chips and going out to his car. Sounds like a tough job, I know we joke about cops and donuts, but I am dissappointed in our justice system. We NEEED to pay more attention to -theft -murder -molesters / rapists -missing children Whenever you are at your township or city meetings express these concerns that the petty crimes are not what we should spend 98% of our time enforcing and 2% of the time doing something of real police work. I would feel much more comfortable knowing officers watching my children at school or camping out in bad neighborhoods in effort to stop rape, and etc. But of course we can't get that, we can only get speeding tickets and other pointless cash money fines. My prayers will be with all the lost children and women michigan law enforcment has failed to protect. One day.......one day we might have a real sense of security.
P.S. - Most cases in michigan are left unresolved because detectives and officers have no clue on how to pursue these cases. The only time's I recall people ever getting in trouble is if they are snitched on by someone and phone police (aka, we are more or less police more so then the actual police force). If there is a fight breaking loose, you run in and stop it, you don't call 911, they take 10 minutes, 2 beaten people later, and criminal charges and all the court non-sense, when you could of stopped it, and at worst maybe got a punch not meant for you sent at you.
