2002 Southeastern Summer Regionals Hosted by Audionutz
A Soundoff Technologies Production August 3rd and 4th, 2002 Valdosta YMCA Valdosta, Georgia, USA
June 16th, 2002, Newsflash: The Audionutz crew, the Lowndes County YMCA ,and Soundoff Technologies to bring you the premier mobile entertainment event of the summer! In order to better serve our Competitor members and manufacturers as well as this sport, we have elected to move the show dates closer by a month so as to not interfere with other large events in this region in September. Understandably, his gives us one month less to plan and prepare, but at least there is no excuse to miss this show! Valdosta Georgia will still serve as the city, being centrally located to IASCA competition zones 1 and 12, just over the Florida-Georgia border. And since we are utilizing the YMCA as the venue, there will be plenty of room to "cool off" in the olymipic-size swimming pools, basketball and raquetball courts, gymnasium, and picnic areas. So, bring the family for a great, fun-filled weekend! This event promises to be spectacular on all fronts, drawing from the success of past regional events and adding a new "twist". In order to cater to this industry's needs, we have decided to hold the last event of the 2002 season as a triple-point IASCA Sound Quality and IASCA dB League show to include various additional activities such as a lowrider and custom car and truck show contest, evening Glow-off competition, wing eating contests, competitor talent competition, Best Of Show awards in all categories, and other fun activities such as "Car Audio Jeopardy" simulated game shows. Most notably, the IASCA competitors will be rewarded with a "Top 26" Olympic-style-judged event on Sunday, pitting the top two in EVERY CLASS against the winners from other classes. The twist is, they will only be judged on SOUND QUALITY using the Ultimate rules! That's right. Install, RTA, and SPL will not matter, so the Street format and the Ultimate format will duke it out, from Novice class thru Expert, to see who has the Best sounding competition system, hands down! And yes, there WILL be cash and product prizes given to the Finalists, with the actual breakdown to be determined and announced. As of now, all Finalists will get their entry fees refunded AND all Finalists will get gift certificates from a select few of our sponsors. As we secure the prizes, we will post them and the breakdown on the Car Sound "IASCA" forum, as well as at the show. We are bringing back the "Best of Show" awards at this event as well! A total of 7 B.O.S. awards will be given to the highest overall score of each division. These are special awards and prizes sponsored by the manufacturers. A Best Showmanship award will be given to the competitor who best displays his or her vehicle to the masses as voted on by the Soundoff Staff.
On the IdBL front, the triple-point event will take place as usual, with the semi- finals and finals being held on Sunday at high noon! Added events will included the SPL Enduro race (more details to follow) and the 1st ever "Burnt Coils" award for the person who toasts the most product during their SPL runs. We are also considering something new which we affectionately call the "Ground Pounder Challenge", in which contestants have the mic placed over the front of the hood with all doors and windows open. This should provide some serious excitement!
The custom import and domestic car and truck show will run like a Lowrider event, where vehicles are judged on their presentation and appearance as well as degree of customization and theme. We are currently looking into companies such as Toucan Industries/ Ractive to come on board as car show sponsors, and are open to all contributors who wish to be involved. For more information on the Car and Truck show, contact Audionutz.
Local television, newspaper, and radio stations will advertise this event beginning three weeks prior, and there will be at least one main radio station broadcasting a live remote from the site. Flyers will be distributed to all area stereo and custom shops as well as all product distributors, high schools, colleges, and fax machines we can find the numbers for! The internet will also serve as a marketing tool to draw a capacity crowd!
One of the most important aspects of business this show has to offer is an affiliation with Pepsi Cola, Inc. as a sponsor of the event. This marks the first time a major corporate sponsor such as Pepsi has been involved in our sport of sound competition. Personally, I feel this is an avenue of new beginnings for both IASCA and the car audio industry, and with the turn-out we expect as well as the YMCA association, PepsiCo stands to leave Valdosta very, very pleased! I hope the rest of you can understand the importance of being involved with this event.

The IdBL portion of the SSR will be a triple-point Regional status. Classes and divisions as they are, using Audio Control meter. Qualifying runs will begin on Saturday at 9AM and continue until registration closes at 11AM Sunday. Entry fee is $50 and includes a re-try. Of course, the top score counts. Power outlets will be available for rental for the weekend in the IdBL staging area. If any of you guys want a tweak area or tents to work under, I urge you to contact your manufacturers and ask them to participate by getting a tweak-n-tune area. Of course, any competitor who wishes to rent a tent for the weekend can do so, just let us know asap!
One of the biggest announcements concerning IdBL is that we have decided to borrow an awards practice from the fine folks at Sound Advice in Florida, and will be awarding 1/2 of the entry fee monies of each class to the winner of that class (in lieu of a trophy). So, if say 10 people were in your class, you'd end up with $250 in cash if you win! Too bad SQ can't be run like this!!! Makes me want to do IdBL.
Anyways, pre-registration is not mandatory, but it is advised to assure a spot for you. If anyone here wants the registration form emailed to them, post it or Email me.
Thank you, and we'll see you there!

Valdosta's just north of the Fla/Ga border on I-75. How far from Charleston - you'd have to do a mapquest search but I'm guessing about 7 hours.
