i would guess that since they were boughten out, they are not legally binded to their old rules of business, only the new ones.

its not the law that they have to honour their warranty, its just good business practide that they should.

Actually there is a law , but like on the Codealarm deal they bought it out of Bankruptcy court and in that case they do not have to aquire any of the debts of codealarm, so i would guess that they have done something simular with the purchase of ADST, that why they spend the big money on attorneys.

okay i got a better understanding about warranty, businesses don't have to provide a warranty, but if they write it down then they are obligated under law to honour it

I talked to one of the DEI guys and he said that when DEI bought ADST, they don't have to honor the warranties but it would a good business practice if they did. What they do now is if you send in a amp that's I think 5 years old or less, you can pay the upgrade to a new version, the upgrade cost about half what the new amp would be. I had a customer send in a XTR 2250 "Beast", they wouldn't fix it, they told him he could pay to upgrade to a XTR Pro 2400 so he did.

Call the guys and ask - I always thought the best way was to go straight to the source and cut out all the questions...1-800-315-2052.

I am not sure if the work is done there, but they will know the answers or be willing to get them for you. Just remember that Arizona is 3 hours behind Eastern Coast time now.

I kinda like how they are not repairing things anymore, I toasted my XTRPro 1000 and when I sent it in they just sent me a new one. Sucks for people who have equip. that is no longer under warrenty though.

rumor has it that Orion is offering an upgrade option when getting something
repaired. curious as to the extent of that rumor and what costs are for
such items as HCCA 250R's working and non-working. thanks!
shane

(Their response)
You heard correct, but personally I would keep the R's, There is no difference in features- only cosmetic. The R's were pretty much bullet-proof. For damaged units call 1800/876-0800 ext 4.

I called them and i was told 1 year for consumer 2 for dealers...so basically if you take it to the place you bought it(send it in..whatever) they will give you 2 year.. which still sucks compared to a lifetime warrenty!

understand this, anytime a company offers a warranty, the company has to have insurance to cover all the repairs till the end of said contract. Talking to some of my lawyer boyz
