so does this mean i can leave my front doors closed in my van but open up my back doors since i have speakers in the rear?? im confused about this rule. my van is louder sealed up so thats why im wondering. and if i "have" to have a window open can i just have both windows cracked and the back doors open so u can "clearly" hear the music.

they want to be able to hear the full range. aka my car the subs way over power the highs so moe told me to hook up a speaker for the outside of the car for the sealed up run. terry is correct on the way the rounds work now but its only 30 sec. now.

I thought the first round was doors shut and 1 window down so the highs can be heard. second round drivers door must be opened third round drivers and passangers door open. That is what I thought it was

The Qualifying Round is a 30 second round. Competitors are allowed to use any approved, commercially available music CD. IASCA Judges using an approved SPL meter will register the average SPL score during that timeframe. The top two contenders with the highest average SPL score from Round 1 in each Bass Boxing Division will qualify for the following rounds.
QUALIFYING ROUND - The competitor has the option of whether they wish to have the vehicle’s doors open or closed during qualifying. The competitor has two minutes from the time they enter the competition lane to get ready to compete. The round lasts 30 seconds during which time the competitor’s highest average SPL score will be recorded. When all qualifying is complete, only the two competitors with the highest average SPL qualifying score will move on to compete against each other in Rounds 1, 2, and 3. Rounds 1, 2 and 3 for the top two contenders have certain criteria for each round; please read carefully:
Doors can be open or closed
ROUND 1 - In Round 1, the competitor must compete with all vehicle openings (doors, hoods, trunks, etc.) completely closed, however, the crowd must be able to hear full range music outside of the vehicle while it is competing. The use of external speaker pods, or opening windows to let the full range sound escape, is allowed. The competitor’s highest average SPL score after 30 seconds will be recorded.
Here external speakers or window down
ROUND 2 - Round 2 is the same as Round 1, with one exception. In Round 2, the competitor must open one of the vehicle’s front doors (driver or passenger). The competitor’s highest average SPL score after 30 seconds will be recorded. The door that is opened must be opened completely and remain open for the full duration of the 30 second run. Competitors are not allowed to try opening and closing the door during the competition run, in order to achieve a higher SPL score
Here 1 door must be opened
ROUND 3 - Round 3 is again the same as Rounds 1 and 2, with one exception. In Round 3, both front doors must be open and remain open for the duration of the SPL run. Competitors are not allowed to try opening and closing the doors during the run in an effort to increase SPL. The competitor’s highest average SPL score after 30 seconds will be recorded
Here both doors must be open.
To me this says qualifying round door open or windows down. top 2 move on
Round 1 doors shut 1 window can be down to here the music
Round 2 1 door must be open
Round 3 both doors must be open

I like it better as well i think it would suck to work all year long to be loud, and the audiance to be the reason that you could loose. These rules are way better!!!!

for round 1 the car must be sealed no pressure my exit the car. if you are sealed at the b pillar and have tweeters and mid in the back doors or trunk or hatch you may open the back doors or trunk or hatch to let the full range of music to be heard, if at any point durring the 3 rounds the full round of music can not be heard by the Judges you will receive a 2 db loss for that round.

Then the rules need to be posted. No were does it say that there will be a 2db penalty and in the rules it says the doors must be shut but the window can be down to alow full range music out. That is in the rules. So does that mean they will change the rules from what is printed.

If that is what they are doing. I might not be involved with Bass Boxing anymore. Because that ruins a good thing.External speakers in a daily drive is not a "street" vehicle were I am from. All of the road salt would destroy the speakers.
