IASCA Competition - September 2, 2006!

Buwalda Hybrids International and Hybrid Audio Technologies is pleased to announce a fully sanctioned International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) double-point "key event" in North Georgia on September 2, 2006. The following formats will be offered: SQC (1 and 2 seat), Street and Ultimate Sound Quality, and all classes of International dB League (IdBL).

The event will be hosted in conjunction with the "Smokin' Thunder" series of custom and classic car shows, sponsored by the City of Dawsonville (Georgia), John Megal Chevrolet, and the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. The venue is the Thunder Road USA/Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, located at 415 Highway 53 E Dawsonville, GA 30534-4017.

This is the LAST date for World Finals qualification; if you want to compete at the 2006 IASCA World Finals, this is the last weekend to do so .

General Show Details:

The show will be hosted in the parking lot of Thunder Road USA (aka the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame). Bring sunscreen and protection from the sun if you can (such as pop-up tents, umbrellas, etc.). The Thunder Road USA is a racing museum and contains a full history of "Awesome Bill from Dawsonville" Bill Elliott. Thunder Road also has a good on-site restaurant, and video games. There's also a Dairy Queen and the local pizza joint within walking distance.

Sound Quality (SQ) Event:

The sound quality event will be officiated by the southeast's best judging staff. Expect to see former world champions and finalists in the lanes doing the SQ judging. We will be judging according to the 2006 IASCA rulebook. All SQ formats will be offered. The cost of registration for the SQ event is $30 (payable at the IASCA registration tent), plus $5 parking fee (due at the front gate). If you'd like to do more than one SQ event (for example, compete in one of the standard classes, and an SQC class), the combined cost will be $50, plus $5 parking fee.

Sound Pressure Level (SPL) Event:

We will be using a calibrated Linear-X with high SPL microphone for sound pressure level testing and IdBL. Although this is not a world record event, it will give you a real good idea where you're at with your SPL just two weeks before the World Finals. We will be offering the IdBL portion of the competition at $25 per entry (payable at the IASCA registration tent), plus $5 parking fee (due at the front gate). If you'd like to re-run for a new score, the re-runs will be done at $10 each. You may do an unlimited number of re-runs to see if you can improve your SPL score throughout the day.

Awards and Prizes:

Competitors will receive a certificate with their name and placement, placed in a handsome frame suitable for display. The "Best of Show" SQ (highest sound quality score, minus installation score, of the entire event) and the "Highest SPL" in IdBL will receive a pair of Hybrid Audio Technologies Legatia L3 wide-bandwidth midrange drivers, in addition to the framed certificate. The Legatia L3 speakers are valued at $259.00/pair.

Bring the Family/Make it a Weekend Away:

This show is on SATURDAY! By hosting it on a Saturday, it leaves the remainder of the weekend for family time and outings the long Labor Day weekend.

Bring the family! Located just four miles to the east of the venue is one of Georgia's largest outlet malls, the North Georgia Premium Outlets, a plethora of good restaurants and hotels, and only a few minutes south of the Georgia mountains. Other nearby attractions include the Dahlonega Gold Museum, Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, Mayfield Dairies, several Civil War sites, the Kangaroo Conservation Center, lot's of wineries and vineyards, and the incredible Amicalola Falls located just 15 minutes from the venue! Make a weekend of it!

The venue is about an hour from downtown Atlanta as well. You could go check out any number of cool attractions, such as the Ivan Allen, Jr. Atlanta Braves Museum & Hall of Fame, Stone Mountain Park, Underground Atlanta, World of Coca-Cola® Atlanta, Zoo Atlanta, or the new Georgia Aquarium.

Additional Information will be added here

Note: This event is simply a double point event and is NOT, I repeat NOT an auto qualifier as previously posted.
