Personal opinion, the AC seems to pad the scores a little more, but when the numbers start getting way up there, it tends to get more stiff

it's just a different way of measuring. However with the mic diaphram heat and humidity will have some "factor" as opposed to a sensor which is supposedly not affected by that.

The sensor is really a strain gauge. Strain gauges have no moving parts. A strain gauge is used to measure deflection caused by a force acting upon the gauge.
That is why they aren't affected by heat and humidity.
Scales are another place where strain gauges are used over spring-type scales. Especially over time, the strain gauge remains more accurate.
I think wayne put up an explanation of how the "sensor" works somewhere on the website. I'll see if I can find it.

You can't really compare the two. The Termlab is very consistent across the board, but the audiocontrol can vary greatly(as much as 12-15db) from meter to meter. Rule of thumb, get loud on the T/L, spank the A/C
