You have 2 options:
Go to a bunch of crappy "local" shows (which may be 10-12 hours each way to get to, depending on where you live) and get the necessary points to get an invite
Go to a TKE (territorial key event) and place in the top 3 I think, and get an automatic invite....
Either way works. One way is cheaper, and only involves one show, IF you do really good at that one show....

except it's going to take more than just a TKE to get to finals this year. TKE and a "smaller crappy show" as you put it, Mr. Negative. Unless there aren't any near you.

So this year it is a TKE and one local show?
Has this been officially released yet?
Andy
EDIT: because if that is true, we all have problems. There doesn't appear to be more than 5 "local" shows on the events. They are all TKE's. The Locals are 2x and a few SPL only shows in NY.

I realize that my comment may sound negative, HOWEVER, it is a true statement that the ONLY local shows are 9 hour drives. For a local show, that is CRAPPY to me!!!

03-20-04 Sounds Good Audio Greenville, SC SQ,SPL 03-20-04 Seaside Parks & Recreation Seaside, OR SQ,SPL 08-21-04 to 08-22-04 Speed Style & Sound Lexington, OH SQ, SPL
Those are the only 4 1x shows in the country that have SQ in them. There are a few 2x'er that are part of fast and furious programs, but those are the only true IASCA shows.
Saying you have to go to a local show is like saying you have to ride a dinosaur if one is in your area---why bother requiring you have to do something that doesn't exist (anywhere)
It'll be interesting to see what comes out in a couple of weeks. I'm willing to bet it will be a tke only, or wide open invite (with those that have gone to shows having priority if it is combined with USACi and space is limited). It may be stated as something different now, but in the end you'll get as close to an open invite as ever. Numbers are just to low to do otherwise.

EXACTLY my point Andy!!!!
Why on God's green earth would IASCA want to turn away folks from the "Big Dance"????
Turning away paying "customers" is a BAD idea!

If I had to guess I would say Kansas City combined with USACi and DB Drag Racing.
If the combined finals does not work out--who knows. Hopefully somewhere decently in the middle of the country like Indy, Chicago or similar. Somewhere everyone at the 4 corners has to drive some but does not absolutely kill any one group (like having it in Greenville, SC or Los Vegas).
