not a problem, and this post is not talking about krisa or even a reference to this person. first the mic's were so far off, the guy with the 2 solo 18's normally does in the 150's and he hits a 170 come on these mic's are trash. i think that only 1 of the mic's were truly right in the scores. the turn out at this show was not very good at all. but chris was doing a good job with the mic's they were just off. THANKS FOR THE REPLY AND MY NAME IS JUSTIN and this xtreme disturbance is a joke too. thats all

Those mics were within .2 of a just calibrated audio control, and have been calibrated within the past three months. They are not the new termlab, but old termlab, so they will read higher. Still good for single-point events and scores will be consistent with what you'd see at other IDBL/SLAP events.
Burtons used to do mid 150s on the new termlab (so, 160s on the old one), but in case you hadn't noticed, did a HELL of a lot of work on that truck. Everyone else was consistent with their normal audio control scores, and with their scores from last year. They are also consistently 5-7 down from the new termlab meters used at multipoints. It's a well known fact that the higher the SPL, the more the meter spreads. That is one reason for the development of the newer termlab system.
I do appreciate the feedback, but your allegations that the mics are flawed are unfounded.
When you said the show sucked I thought you were commenting on how it was run, not on misconstrued information on the mics used.
As for Xtreme Disturbance, their members in Street A and B are among the guys leading the state in dbDrag, including the current state record holder in Street A and a 2002 dbDrag finalist. For the most part they are a local car audio club, but have a couple guys who do very well. If it weren't for them, there'd likely be no shows at ProStyle because they're the ones who encouraged the owner to have shows.

the thing about having a high mic is... you can be on the same mic, so its even keel, as long as you are on it, even if you lose to him, thats really your fault, not the shows fault... anyone can with at any time, depending on money, sponsorship, install, vehicle, luck, and having a plan of how you are going to show you vehicle, picking the shows out, which mics would be better suited for your vehicle... this is not really a new concept, but saying a show is really high and bitching about it, when you can be on the same mic is kinda wrong, although i think we would all like to believe that we all get the short end of the stick, and use that as a excuse...

One other thing Justin - I don't see your name anywhere in the event results. How do you know how far off things were if you weren't even in the lanes?

I did compete and I thought the mics were off myself. Burtons did a 161 then turns around and does a 171 in the other lane. Nothing against anyone there but that seems a little off to me. I could understand if Burtons did work in the lanes but he said he didn't do anything. Also Scott which is an IASCA finalist and first place winner did the nearly same score he did at finals with a quarter ot the power. I don't mean to offend anyone and I know that both these cars are loud but to jump ten dbs. Mics have a tendency to be dropped or pulled out of cars when people try to drive off which can have a huge effect on the mic. I wish I could have got on the magic mic just so I could have broke the 160 mark with my low 150's setup. I would also like to see the results posted correctly but I don't even know who is at fault for that so don't think I am acusing anything about anyone. No offense to the way the show was ran but that is just what I felt about the mics. As for the turnout all the shows that I have been to this year have been lacking in participation with the exception of a few. I have been to both the Audio Advisors shows and they have had a great turnout. Maybe it is just because it is further south. Any way that is my two cents worth.

And to jarfunkz I am not complaining because I lost. I don't mind losing I have lost all year so it dosen't bother me because I am just getting into it and have a lot to learn. What bothers me is when I work on my truck I like to know if what I have done really helped. I understand all mics are different but these seemed a little far fetched.
Also if you guys need mics so this guys can stop talking about the mic issue , I'll take mines to the show, unless you think they might not work on your system.
Thanks

One of the mics was great the other may have been too I just never got on it to know for sure. I just thought the scores seemed a little high. I am not trying to complain but I think the guy had a right to voice his opinion maybe he didn't do it the right way but some people aren't that considerate. Oh well either way it still was a good small show to go to.It is a local show at a smaller shop so you shouldn't be expecting a hundred people to showup. Chris does a great job along with everyone else who is involved. I have been to both and am going to try and make the third. I have other things I have to do so I might just show up to burp the new setup and go back to my prior appointments.

He does have a right to his opinion, but frankly in mine, if he's not competing and doesn't do basic research, I have the right to factually debate him.
If I hadn't been the one to make sure the mics were calibrated, I probably wouldn't be as peterbed about it. But this commentary is coming from a non-competitor speculating based on what he saw, and not doing proper research.
The mics are last year's Termlab. They are within .2 of an Audiocontrol used at Spring Break Nationals and the previous IASCA World Finals. Yes, compared to the new Termlab, it's "high". But its equivalently high for everyone, if it's "high." Metering is a basis of comparison. Now two mics are the same unless they are calibrated same day, same time and under the exact same atmospheric conditions.

I was just stating my opinion and I may be wrong I never got on the other mic, I was just stating what I saw. I am not trying to start an arguement so don't take it the wrong way. I think you guys do a great job and I would like to see the Prostyle shows continue because I like not driving 2hours to get on a mic.

David, I understand. Not angry with you at all. And part of the reason we agreed to help ProStyle out with their shows, was because we know just how much it SUCKS driving 2 hours for any show.

And a hell no! We are a bunch of street beaters that hang out all the time. Which car are you? I ran on both mics and the score was just about the same after i fixed a glinch on my headunit. I have tested on those mics dude and know that they are good mics. Lay off and bring to the next show if Xtreme disturbance is such a joke.
