The RFL might be RFL, but it does not compare to a dd. The cone is equivelent to a big 6 1/2 speaker due to the huge " cool looking surrounds". There just is not enough moving cone area to compare to a DD.

I`m with you, Tiny tunes! I personally dont like the MTX subs. They are just not an impressive sub. So What, they have a bad ass magnet and basket assembly, WOW!!! I think it is just MTX`s idea of a high spl sub, but I think sucks. The DD could kick it`s @$$ anyday hands down.

Don't you think everyone can choose their own speaker? You got to listen to it, because, more than likely YOU are the only one listening to it.
Maybe some people (not me, BELIEVE ME) think the RFL's sound better than those DD's. Has anyone even heard them yet? (I'm not cutting anyone down. Sorry if you get offended)
Bottom line: Listen to the subs that you think you want to buy. By asking opinions of others helps, but listen to them yourself.

You know guys, it really doesnt make any difference who can kick whose a-- - I was under the impression this sport was for fun and to encourage more people to get involved. Now as for the RFL - it was in the making before I was dropped by PPI - therefore MTX didnt design it to entice me over - I have wanted to move to MTX for over a year. Had nothing to do with products - had everything to do with the people here in Phoenix that I have grown to like and respect. And another thing - in SPL - do we really care what that sub sounds like? All I want to do is move lots of air. First time posting and just my thoughts for the day. Alma

I agree with Alma. Do it for fun, not for blood. There is always going to be someone out there who is going to do nothing but talk you or your system down. Or is going to tell you how bad they are gonna kick your butt at an event. Just blow them off.

Although I enjoy this forum very much, I am sometimes dismayed to see people evaluating subs against other subs. When the only tech expertise these people have is competing! Any new person to the sport will always ask," Which sub is best...bla bla bla..." and someone always obliges him with speaker A spanks speaker B..bla bla bla..and invariably that new person is worse off then when he started. Some people already know this, but I am going to say it anyway. It's application ...application....application! Most subs nowadays are very strong and will do good numbers....it's more dependent on the consumers ability to utilize the strengths of the sub. Not the consumers ability to ask as many people as possible whether they suck. Just tossing in my two cents!

RFL subs look pretty cool . I like the industrial cosmetics! If MTX would have built this sub for Alma they probably wouldnt have gone through the trouble of building the tracker. My advise to new people. Dont take opinions to heart. Try to evaluate a speakers performance based on fact and not opinion.

I was at one show this summer and mtx had the tracker with 24 rfl's in it. I just happened to be walkeng past its open door when they were burping it and it almost knocked me down!

Don't downplay a subs SQ until you hear it in an optimized environment. The enclosure's that everybody in the Drag circuit are using for big numbers are made to do one thing. Move air......lots of air. The frequency response looks like a camels back. If you want to check a subs SQ, build a box that lets it have a flat response and give it adequate power. In the DD's case, yes it's going to be a s&^tload to make it do what it can, but hey, I'm not scared. I personally have had great results with the DD subs in practically all situations. They are a little enclosure sensitive, so keep that in mind when building for certain applications.

Well here is a comment of mine. I plan to have some fun in SPL but I dont think I will be going all out. Not for a while. I will compete locally and support my friends that do it. But there seems to be a lot of unrest. I dont need to work my arse off and have someone come up and break or bend a rule to the point of fracture and beat me on that merit and the fact I refuse to break the rules. Heck this is fun to me...I have taken my share of beatings on my views. But I keep comming back for more.
I hope that a time comes that stuff does chill out and the sport gets back to what it used to. And rules or something change. I would love to compete but I would have no chance against the walled off built up monsters that cause to much of a stir. Hell there is no doubt they are loud. But kinda kills some newbies in compeating. The cars are killer to look at and see perform BUT can a new 16 or so year old kid compete with a built up walled off car? Rules need work but I think everyone knows that. I look forward to the future..

I saw that Tracker at Perry. Looked pretty awesome. What about those batteries on the roof, neat idea. The MTX guy standing aroung was very friendly and to my amazement asked if I wanted to hear it. He just burped it, but I can tell you he was movin some serious amounts of air. Cool console on the spare tire too. I have pics I will post on my site soon. Later QUADZILLA

IMO car audio is not a sport, it's a hobby and if you are really serious about it, it becomes an obsession or profession. Competition does not = sport.
