OK, I have my amps, now all I need is the electrical system. This is what I have: 2) VLX-400's, 2)USA-150X, and 1)USA-100X. All of these are US Amps. The VLX's have been tested at 3500wRMS. So here goes my question: How many and what size alterantors and batteries should I get. Now I know that I have been told to get the biggest and most battereies possible, well I just don't have that kind of money. I was planning on getting 3 225A alternator and 8 US Amps SPL-2000 batteries. 5 of the battereies would be for the two VLX-400's, one of the batteries would be for the two 150X's and the 100X, and the other two batteries would be for my trucks electrical system itself. I wanted to run an electrical system where I have an alternator running the eclectriacl system itself and an alternator setup for the stereo system itself.
So how would I do that? And is this setup good enough? What do you guys recommend I do? Thanks.

Four large batteries and one big alternator will do. The smaller amps running your high end drivers won't pull nearly as much current as those big, bad VLX400s. And you don't have to spend a fortune on 'audio' batteries or name brand alternators.

Thanks Steve. I'll look into some good cheap batteries now. So do you think that a 270A Alt will be enough to runn all that? I don't know those VLX-400's pull 400A each at full power and I have 8 Optimizer power supplies to go with that (1 on each power wire going into the VLX-400's) So They are goingot pull a crap load of power. What are some good cheap battery brands that are out there?

Trojan and Interstate both have Group 31 batteries that are rated around 1000CCA. I like these batteries because of the threaded posts coming out the top. They allow you to connect a row of 4,5,or 6 using a buss bar instead of having to buy clamps to go on each battery. I think these type batteries are around $65 to $75 each. That big alternator you mentioned should be plenty.

Thanks Steve, That is what I wanted to do with the batteries anyways is connect them with 2 inch wide copper buss bars. The guy I bought them off of, USman, said that that would be the best way to prevent current loss from the wire being too small. I mean since the VLX's are modified and they pull 400A each!! and I have 2 of them plus other amps!! I thin I am going to go with 8 batteries total. 2 for the Truck itself up front in the engine compartment, and 6 for the system (5 for the VLX's and 1 for the other highs and mids amp).
Another question. Do you think I should upgrade the alternator for the trucks electrical system or just get it rewound? Because I want 2 separate electrical systems, 1 for the truck and one for the audio system.
Thanks again Steve

If you're talking about running two alternators-one for the system batteries in the rear, and one for the vehicle batteries under the hood, I would think that the stock alternator would be enough for just the truck.

For starters cheap batteries will give you cheap results. I am a us amp dealer the vlx 400 is one the largest amps on the planet. and you must feed the animal. leave the stock batt. or equal to on the electric sys. Put all your available funds on the systems elctrical needs. 8 spl 2000 batteries is the minimum I would put on the system and if you want to skimp on it the only acceptable consumer battery is the interstate megatron plus. Bigger is not better in this case more small batteries will out do fewer big batteries every day of the week. Do as many alternaters as you can afford or fit what ever comes first. The optimizer is a good idea, check with u.s. if you have enough of them. Remember to feed the animal or it will starve and die {vlx 400'S}.
