i was tuned @40hz peak on tl was 43hz built same box tuned @50hz should have peak @52 or 53 but peak was @47hz and went down in spl why??????

you tuned too high for the vehicle and/or enclosure.

try adding port length to bring your tuning down to where its loudest.....try adding 1" of legth between test's.

once youve found the peak of that box, try a bit larger box with same layout for sub and port......dont build drasticaly larger, maybe just 0.1 ft^2 then retune the port. if your final number is louder than the first box then go a bit bigger, if not then go a bit smaller than the first box.

how can you tune to high for the enclosure ? more port length went from 18'' to 6'' could this be the issue not enough air in port?

You adjusted the port length from 18" down to 6" in the same volume box?

yes 18 to 6 i use winisd i kept same volume just retuned the port.

that is the issue....although you changed the "port" tuning, the enclosure volume also has a tuning frequency. the smaller the box (depending on cone and port area) the higher the frequency.

Once you find "through testing" the proper port tuning for that box volume, try a different size box and retune the portlength and see if your spl increases or not.
