I am wanting to start competiting a little bit at a few shows near me so I bought me a vehicle. Its a 94 Eddie Baurer Explorer . Paid 1k for it and it runs good. I am going to fully wall it behind the front 2 seats. I want to do 6 15's in it probably audioque's or something around the sorts. I will make a build log when I start getting in my parts, all i have now is around 250sq of Edead. Hoping for at least 155 out of it and I will be happy for my first.

I decided to not go with the 15's. I already had 4 BL 18's from a earlier system and think im going to add 2 more to the mix and a whole lot of power. Posts: 19 | From: Ms | Registered: Aug 2009

I want to get enough electrical to put a ground pounder 3k on each of them. Not going to burp them but I not going to play them until someone wants to hear it. My goal is at least a 157 termlab. I sat in a vehicle that hit 157 and it was crazy thats why thats my goal.

with 4 18s in a wall you wont be able to get much port area if you do a standard ported wall.
4th order would be the way to go. Should peak around 48-52 hz. Even with a bandpass ur gunna have trouble fitting all the woofers. 4 15s would work much better. Unless you want to do a clamshell with only 4 woofers. If you do manage to fit the bandpass with 4 subs make sure all 4 chambers are seperate and start them off at about 2.25 cubes each and shrink them from there. Then make your ported chamber as large as possible. Make ur baffle 4-6" thick
Build the frame of the wall as large as you possibly can, contoured and braced to the vehicle. For the sides have them in two pieces angled with the b-pillar as opposed to one piece straight verticle.
You wont need all that deadening with a wall btw..that would just be a waste of money. You will definitely gain from deadening the front doors though.
When you burp...have someone sitting or better yet kneeling on the top/front of your roof in the center. In between where the windshield mounts and where the sunroof would be...thatll gain you a ton if you get enough weight up there. I was 350 lbs at 07 finals and gained 0.4 kneeling on my roof

I couldn't put a slot port between the 18's. Or Make a port on the drivers side? I will get out today and do some measurements on everything and see what Im working with.

I know im being stubborn about this but i want to get it right the first time. I have looked into the 4th order and like it about but had another idea, What about 2 seperate walls on each side holding 2 each and port right behind the driver and passenger seats? You know build a wall against the walls of the truck, like the escalade? Just asking questions trying to get the most info i can.

a properly designed 4th order with 4 18s will be louder then that ported design with 6 18s.
The design you're talking about is going to have a lot of cancellation...there's really no point in doing an install like that if you're going after numbers.
And which Escalade are you talking about?

I was talking about chickens, the one steve meade built. I guess I will go with the 4th order, with them being in that design will they handle any less power.

this is a box explorer with 2 18" w3, if you push them all the way over to the pass. side you should have enough room to just go ported wall. that being said it did alot better with 4 15"s later, these are from back in '01.

think about Chickens Escalade...
He has what? 8 BTL 18s and ~30kw and barely does a 160...you've got less subs a lot less power and lower level subs...
I'm sure its loud but the design isn't really built for putting up numbers

Again dude, you don't have enough room for 4 18s. Sure you can put them in but your gonna be dissappointed with the numbers. The critics that don't know anything anyway will say, "4 18s, he should be louder then that". As someone mentioned, you're gonna have cancellation problems. The only reason im so set on using them is because I already have them. If i could have sold them I was going to pick up 4 memphis mojo 15s. I will probably rethink what I want to do about this.

if you have them, use them, put them all over on the pass. side and whatever you have left make it the port. it will hit really hard, just build it and have fun, shaking the block is more fun then burping a 160. oh and Chicken's Caddy only uses 1 of the t15k for the subs.

You don't have enough room for 4 18s side by side to do an SPL set up. The port will be to small. It may work for a Bass Racer though.

I would be happy if it did mid to low 150's, there are no events around my area I just want to do a few hair tricks and have something that is kinda rough to sit in.
