Here is a box that I just finished for my Focus ZX3. It is from a bit of the advice that I got from some of you here on the forum. I couldn't do everything that some of you asked me to try, but I did what will fit in my car and used what I had to work with.
The box is a single 15" sub in a 3 cube after displacement enclosure with a single 8" flared port tuned to 46hz. The car's resonant freq is 51hz so 46 should work nicely. It's just a test to see if it's true that all my pressure is having such a hard time transferring to the dash since my dual 15 box that's in the car is so tall and wide.
I plan on doing the sub up and port to the driver's side and seeing how it works out there. I may try to flip the box to have it fire rearward and still port to the driver's side and see how that works too.
So what do you guys think about this box? If I can do over a 150 off of a single one of my Sundown 2000d's @ .5 ohms then I'll go ahead and strap up the two that I have at .5 and see what it can really do. My guess is that if it does over a 150 off one at .5 then it should easily do over a 152.5 off two at .25 ohms each. Any feedback is appreciated.
I also have some Second Skin Damplifier Pro that I plan on using in the car to try and help pick up a few tenths to a db if possible. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to add the deadener to try and help?

This is a test box, it won't get glassed or braced on the inside until I test it and see if it's even worth keeping. It would be quite a waste to use a bunch of resin on the inside and outside of the box and then have the box not work the way I want. If it's what I want then I'll do everything else to it that needs to be done.

at the end of the port its not straight top looks little longer then buttom "crooked" in the first pic
I see what your saying. It is a little off, but that's from whoever made the port. It's actually the flare that is flared a little bit more on one side than the other, but I don't think that it's going to matter all that much.
No numbers yet, should have had them yesterday but I had to go into work. Saturday I will have numbers for sure. Also no smoothing on the inside of the box until it's tested first. I already answered that it's a test box and if it doesn't work then that's a waste of expensive resin. If it's does what I want then I'll resin the in and outside of the box and put the finishing touches on it. Also the port is sealed completely. That's why I put the wood ring around the outside. The port is epoxied to the ring and then also sealed on with silicone and the ring is screwed to the box. There is nothing that duct tape would do that already isn't being done there.

you may run into a problem if you need to shorten the port rather than keep the same port length and reduce the box volume.
Also I dont think this box will be loudest centered in the car. Id make sure to try it offset, should be worth a few tenths

I didn't plan on centering the box at all. I was going to put it all the way up against the passenger side of the car toward the front of the hatch area. It is designed for woofer up and port to the driver's side anyway so how would I go about centering it in the center of the car?

They're saying center the box in the car with the sub up and port firing back. I'll tell you another direction to try is port back sub to the pass side.

That's doable. I didn't think of that, but it could work out very nicely. Are you planning on coming to High Point on Saturday? I may be testing the box there if I can't get anyone to come to my house before the show so we can test.

sub to drivers side will def be the way to go. You want to load in the opposite corner of the sensor.

Anyone got any ideas where to add deadener to help my score? The roof hurt me before, but it could have been because I used too many layers. It may have helped if I had just used a single one instead of 3 layers.

In some testing I did in another vehicle sub to the pass side & port back was a few tenths louder than sub up port back. Sub back port side ended up being the best though.

I would try sub forward, up, and back, port to drivers side. The only other thing is that the port needs to be tuneable. The way tuning reacts in a car and even at a given power level varies greatly. To have a fixed length port will never allow you to realize a combinations full potential.

I know what your saying, but this was the quickest, easiest way to get an 8" port to try out. I may be able to talk the person who owns it into selling it to me and then I can shorten it if I need to, or I can go ahead and buy the parts to make my own. The stuff I would need to make my own is a bit expensive so I wanted to try out one that was already made first and see if it was going to work better than what I have in the car now. Trust me if this is louder than the 2 sub setup I'll drop the $70 it will take for me to make my own 8" port that can be any length that I want.

I'm sure you guys would like to know what it did and I'll tell you. With no testing, no resin, no bracing, no tuning, no anything it did a 152.2 at 52hz with 4600 clamped watts. The clamping technique used is questionable, so realisticly around 4000 watts rms.
I've got quite a bit of work ahead of me to test and tweek all the little things that are in there, but I'd say that this box may have a 154 or so in it off the power that I have on tap. I'll keep posting increases as they come.

shouldnt cost you anywhere near $70 if you have a good circle jig for your router.
You need about half a sheet of mdf, sandpaper, bondo, and a bit of resin. If you had to buy it all id say $30 total
