i'm losing a lot of pressure out of the rear window of my explorer... i didn't realize just how much until last weekend while metering, i had a couple dudes brace my rear window, and it tore the thread out of the hinge, for the 2nd time.
i tried searching, but couldn't find any threads discussing permanently sealing the rear window of an explorer. i never open the thing anyway.
i know someone has done this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could fiberglass the back cover so the air pressure doesn't flex the glass. I dont know if it will put you in a differant class so do some more checking before you do it man. It worked for me after the fact of replacing the rear window seal and glass.

You still could as a daily driver and use a rearview camera or try tightening the lock mount

definitely try tightening the lock mount. Mine was louder the more air it leaked. The sunroof leaked so much air it blew my hair back when i was on the roof burping through the sunroof glass. But was louder that way

hmm... i didnt really get to test my system too much, it was the first burp of the day i think that broke out the plastic on the hinge mount... last time it stripped the threads, this time it just tore out the plastic. i think bracing the window, especially low like they did was a bad idea.
so i didnt really get a good score with the leaky window. i backed out of the lane and duct taped my window all the way around, thinking it would be louder if it was sealed up. i wasnt very satisfied with my scores, even though its a daily box. peaked at 151.9 on my first burp of the second day with a freshly charged rear battery, had trouble breaking 151 again all day. mind you, this is in the kick with the driver door half open.
i did still break 150 on the dash, even on music, but i still was hoping for better.
my explorer has a power sunroof but the plastic mounts on both sides of my overhead console broke off and fell down, then the sunroof motor broke from slapping against the roof, so i removed it. the sunroof is slightly below the roofline in the rear and even with it int he front, like it was slightly open, but it doesnt seem to leak air or water so i dont worry about it. the inside cover for the sunroof rattles all to hell though, slaps against the glass.

also, this was only 2 days after getting any power back on my 18s, which i just finished reconing about 5 days before the competition. i had 400 watts on them for the first 3 days, and pulled the outer shroud of the rca input of my memphis amp out with an rca while i was pulling it out.
also the same week, i switched from a pioneer 880prs hu to the w205/h701 combo and was still learning to tune it, so i know my system has more in it.

last year i was using a 97 explorer. i simply obtained some seriously strong adhesive and sacrificed being able to use that window ever again. find some windshield adhesive or a type of strong subfloor adhesive. it may still have a slight flex to it, but not like before. i just put it on the inside rounded edges of the windshield and taped it down while drying. it did wonders.you couldnt see any overspill of the adhesive either. i never actually metered it after that to see if there was any difference, but it didnt matter much longer anyway. i ended up walling the damn thing. nonetheless, it did the trick.
