Whats up, I just joined here. I met guy today at local truck show, and he told me to register on here for some help. His name is Aaron Morgan, pretty cool guy. Well, I have 98 expedition with 2 FI BL 18's with just 2 sundown saz-1500d's on them, tuned to 33hz, in about 15 cubes after sub and port. Running extra powermast d3100 in the back, 1/0 wire, subs up, port back. I did a 147.3 on a termlab about 3 months ago. I took it all out, deadened roof and back door, shortened my power wires and got metered today on an audiocontrol meter. I know it couldnt have changed this much, but today did a 151.7. Anyway, i am looking to start going to some small comps and try to learn more about it. Any suggestions? And here is pics of setup, will put new pics up tomorrow, box has 45s in it now, port is painted now also.

Hello, welcome to the site. I have a similar setup to yours in my car now. It is 2 Sundown Nightshade 15's off of 2 Sundown 1500's along with 2 XS Power D3100's in back and I'm doing a 151.2 on the dash on the TL.

So with that said I think that I have the experience to give you some advice. First off that number on the Audio Control is probably off by 3-4db, so I'd expect to say that your probably around a 148.5-149 db range on the TL. I'd redo the box size and port configuration.

First I'd say that you need to shrink the box down to about 10 cubes after displacement of woofers and port. Then I'd do 4 6" aeroports and tune them higher to 36-37hz. That is going to make the box closer to the peak freq of your vehicle than as low as you have it now. It will still play the lows with quite a bit of intensity, but it will be louder overall on the meter. The last thing I would suggest would be to add another battery in the back along with an upgraded one up front.

i am workin on adding another 3100 in the front, or at least a 3400 in the front and another 3100 in the back. I will do some calculations and change my box up next, I wasnt sure about the aero's. I have never had box with aero ports.

The resonant fequency of your truck is 49 to 50. Run 10^3 and 6 4" aeroports.
I had a 98 Navi, so I know that vehicle very well.

My 1998 Ford Expedition, peaked at 40Hz, no matter what type of box or port length I had.

the audio control meter you used last week was my meter. If you want to play around some more, just let me know and I will carry it up to sounds great and give it to Sam.

In spl, I'd rather have the termlab. It is more consistent burp to burp and it reads at least 3-4dbs lower than the audio control. Your note may be a bit different between the two.

Jack sold his termlab (stupid cheap) and I'm not sure where it is now. I think it is still in town, but not sure where.

Let me know if I can do anything to help you. If you want to see if more power will help, I will have around 10,000 watts available soon you can test with (I'm building a wall in my F150 for some 18's).

Powerbass amps 2 of them. Their new 5000 watt versions. I don't think they are on the website yet.

Ultra subs. 18's.

I'm overpowering them. I over power everything. The tweeters in my car have 350 watts on them [Smile]

i have never heard of ultra subs, should be super loud though. Let me know of any show you go to, and maybe I can go to see about competing some.

expeditions are just a pain in the ass to get loud

I have 4 Incriminator DP 15s and 4 20.1s in kind of a small box and while it sounds SO loud it only does a 52 and change right now
