Look at your box being 3-3.5cuft + sub and port volume on top of that per sub, and go sub up port back. Try and use min 25mm to 32mm think timber.

I would stay with 18's and do the subs up and the port back. It helped me break a 155 with 2 Sundown 3000d's and two Nightshade 18's.

Well I did beef up my current boxes some, added some wood dowels and doubled the face and painted them. I gotta see how this box does before i build my next one (subs up port back). Oh I dropped an Ohio Generator 200 amp alt too. its going to take me about 2 months to save up for a powermaster d2400 under the hood, and 2-3 d3100s in the back. One I get those I can hook up my 2 brutus 2kw amps. This is just phase 1, ill probably just use this setup this year, i might get some of those crunch amps early this summer to replace the brutus's. we shall see. stay tuned

When you do subs up/port back where do you position the subs on the face, front or rear ? Right now my subs are back and port up in a 92 suburban.

try them at the back, then take the baffle off and flip it so they're at the front. then also make a 2nd baffle with them centered.

depending how much mounting depth and port height you have inside the box you might have limited woofer configurations but work with what you've got atleast.

Actually I am now considering running with 6 12's (DD9512's)for next season. I think hitting a mid 150 will be easier with 6 12's and 3kw on each one. Plus I've never ever owned a pair of DD woofers and I've always wanted to.

I'll tell you right now subs forward works better. I've been through this, lol.
Your port should be firing to the rear also. This is my old set up in my Navi when I was doing 55s.

Let me correct myself. I did the 55s with the same box but I changed the back of the box to 6 4" Aeroports firing backwards. My frequency was 48-50.

I could believe it. My box design looks very similar to this. Except for the divider.

and you have an expedition/navigator?

I know mine doesn't meter worth a ****

I have 4 death penalty 15s on 4 20.1s at .5 with a powermaster 3100 in the back and a 2700 under the hood (i know I need a lot more but no room) and it only does a 52 and change but sounds A LOT louder then that. So wtf am I doing wrong? lol

and its peaking at 42hz

hell maybe the box isn't really big enough, I've only got right at 3 cubes per sub...maybe I'd be better with 3 15s

Here's the box with MT 18s and 4 VFL 150.1s. This was actually 1 db less then the Solo Xs.
I don't think I had enough power for the MTs lol.

hm you did have a 16 volt setup though...

I think I'm going to get an alt on the way and just go from there because my voltage still drops into the 10s.

I just dunno man it makes me depressed, also did you do any deadening?

On 12 volts, I think I did a 53.4. That was with 2 Earthquake D3s.
