people seem to think that a longer coil gives them more throw, or allows more of the coil to stay in the gap...

The setup sounds louder to ear as well. At 56hz it doesn't even sound like it's loud at all, but at 51hz it hurts me to even sit in the car. That's not that big of a difference only 5 hz. As for specs on the woofers the stock subs had 3 hard spiders, and the upgraded subs have 2 hard spiders and 2 medium as well as the coil being about .25" longer than the origional coil. Those aren't huge differences than the stock woofer. I was just wondering if altitude and location of where I'm playing at is going to affect spl that much. The actual upgraded woofer isn't all that different from the stock one. I would bet on a charged system I can see at least a 147.6 or better. I've just been told that change in location can make a big difference on score changes. That was the big question here, you guys missed the point of the question.

I think you need another groundpounder

I completly agree with this statement. I thought the same thing as well. By adding a stiffer suspension it's going to take more power to push the sub and being that I haven't made any upgrades to the power plant I may not have enough to push this sub to the potential that I was pushing the previous version. That was one thing that I had already considered. I am in the works of adding another amp, and running one per woofer at .5ohms. Or running them strapped with each amp seeing .5 that way.

I have better results from colder weather in michigan, not the 20 degree stuff but like 35 to 40.
