The box is a LONG way from being done. However due to the fact that I need points and there is a show in 2 weeks I decided that it's close enough to make it's first apperince. I am only going to use 2 amps for right now and 7 batterys. I'm going to give it a quicky tune this week (so I'm safe) and see where I end up.

I WILL note that the fiber glass resin INSIDE the box has REALY changed the way it sounds. It now eccohs.....and I would guess that the boxs freq had gone up 10-15Hz AT LEAST.

I'm not going to wail on it at it's first show even though it will be WAY under powered to say the least. The way the coils will end up with 2 amps is it will see a 1.8ohm incress on the amp......not the best for power since my sub coils were matched at 1 coil per amp.

I think I will be able to give EACH sub about 1600 RMS(total...not per coil)...not the planned 6,000 per sub for now.

Any 1 have an idea on what kind of numbers I should be able to achive with this power and unfinshed setup ?

OH..the paint is only tempory just so the body filler dosn't soak up any moister from the air.

Not sure about the number, but if you're doing 149 with 800 watts I'd say to expect around a 151 with 1600. Is that 800 watts per sub that is in your signature or is that 800 watts total? If you also factor in the change in freq maybe expect to see as high as 153 out of it, and that's not a bad start at all.

Was 800 watts per sub...I should have 1600 per sub with 2 amps....cause I have to series the coils to keep the amps from protecting.

The 148 was also with the box sorta thrown in. All sides had a FEW screws in but that was about the extent of the box at the time. You could see the box hovering on the floor...should have taken a vid cause it was cool.

I am going to retest with 1 amp just to see how much if any all the work I did gained me...then throw some more power at it. I'd like to see a 51 with 2 amps at this point in the game.

Or SOME 1 slamming a block of wood down inside the box while I'm sanding inside. As fas as solid I bet a 15 lbs sledge hammer would only go thud.

I would guess that amount of power (3,200 watts)on that setup should get you to around 154-155.

Looking good. Any plans on rounding the inside corners? I know it works wonders on a wall box. And I don't know if it would effect your cubic feet to much or not. Just a suggestion.

Looks like it's coming along nicely Pete. Alot of work getting done. I still haven't gotten a chance to do anything with your old 15"s yet(vfl's) still trying to decide on power for all 4.

WOW...can't belive that that many people were watching this build. Figured maybe 1 or 2.

Pics are comeing...slow old dialup takes a while.

Metered the van to day.....was more than rigged up to say the least. Lots of Y connectors....head unit was mounted in my car NOT the van. I robbed the speaker wire off my home stereo(16 gauge at best).

Only made a few burps....1 amp coils pareled (.7 ohm) PER channel(2 channel amps) voltage starting at 13.6 volts(and batterys uncharged) peaked a wopping 150.9@50Hz. This was VERY untuned in the box. I also didn't have a HU in the dash so there was a big hole. Voltage at end of testing was 13.3(engine still running) I haven't gotten around to getting my alt fixed...the van was also idealing not at the 1800RPM it would be at for a show.

Next test......2 amps coils wired 1 per channel(1.4 ohm) both amps sharing the same batterys bank. The maxlink cost me big but I didn't spend any time playing with it...so simply bypassed and just ran more Y connectors the final score with both amps was 150.8. I never swept to see if the note changed(it probley did)and only burped it twice here.

Was worried about the neighbors that are a pain in the butt ones were home and I didn't want any vists from the popo's.

I'm going to guess that the lower numbers from noth amps is due to the ohm load being 2X as high. Only advantage is that on 1 amp I have to role the volume and with both I can straight burp it.

I didn't even get to check power out put of amps as my volt meter batterys were dead and my amp clap is at work. I would say REAL world power out put would be in the 1100-1200 watts RMS PER sub. When I spoke to maxxsonics earlyer this year and got some 12-13 volt power ideas and my test today should have been in that ball park...................Hmmmmmm now the voice coils are set up to get peak power out of 4 amps running
bridged.... so I wonder if a 10,000 watt incress will change my numbers ?????????????????

I would guess IF I spent some time on the box tuneing that I could get to a 154 with 1 amp. Last time I messed with the box it REALY responded well to a few simple modds....that wern't tested tonday. So after I add 10K more power and spend 50-100 hours doing test and tune and possbaly even recone to max my amps power potental I wonder what kind of gain I can achive.....is there 9 Db left in this thing ????????

160 is STILL the goal !
