70Hz is kind of high, why 70?

you're tuning at 70, or peaking at 70?

Our van was peaking at 67 and we had to put an angle in the box to get that

most of the time higher the hz the higher your # on the meter. i know this one guy he has a astro van and he told me his van is tune to 70 hz. he has 3 18 and does 172 on the audio control. see my goal is to top that. so at what hz can i top that. and my dream is to do 175 term lab.

A.L.K,

I hate to bust your bubble but, if all you needed to do is tune high to get high scores, heck everyone would be tuned to 80Hz! I don't know how much of a difference there is between the ac mike and the TL censor but..a 172. that's asking a lot.
what class was/is your friend in? As for your van, looking for scores like that, I can only guess your gonna compete in Extreme!

you got a ways to go grasshopper. I'm not saying its impossible but... it won't happen over night.

If he does a 172 on the AC then that means he might be doing a 165-167 on the Termlab. [Eek!]

well his van is extreme plexy glass windows and doors has cement in them and he has a huge port. thats what i am shooting for extreme class.right now he is the loudest in hawaii nobody ever did beat his score for couple of years. but now i am hearing that he is getting ready for spring break national so he might be flying the van up there.

You can beat his score without all the cement and plexiglass windows. [Wink]

If you're doing that big of a build you realy should be doing your own testing to find the resonant frequiencey of the vehicle rather than relying on internet or secondhand info.

AC Meter is more than 5db off from the Term Lab. Well it is for me anyway. I do like 168.5 on the AC Meter and I my best number on the Term Lab so far is a 158.5. May not be the same for everyone but thats what it is for me. I have a 1998 Ford Ranger Ext. Cab Truck with 6 12" Pioneer Subs & 3 Hifonics XX Colossus II amps. Box is @ 68Hz right now. I just tuned it to 72Hz and I will be sure to let you know if that helps any.

That's becuase it's probably the AC190 and not the AC180. (fyi you can change the sinsivitiy on the old one with a turn of the knob to get it closer to TL number but when it's on 0 then it's alot higher in almost all cases) duh

to sum it up for u all the ac 190 is within .5 of the lab, the ac 180 was 5-7 off the termlab, and the audiocontrol 3055/spectrum analyzer was like 10 off, and the good thing about the ac 180 and 3055, is that you can adjust the sensitivity like stated above, then pull the button out and put it back at 0, so people with 100 watts could hit 160 s(with the knob trick), lol

This thread made me laugh just a little. hhaha
But ya astros should be around 67-73 hz area with a peaked out box.
Last year we built one 60 cu/ft tuned to 39 hz, i know i know...got low!!! but with about 6000 rms 4 MTs and it did 160.8 on the TL
2 years earlier this van placed 2nd at finals. [Big Grin]
