These amps are very solid. I ran a pair of the GD6001's in my rex last year and clamped the pair putting out 7400 watts@ 13.7volts. The one in my van I havn't clamped but i would love to get my hands on a few more of these for the van. Highest score to date with the single GD6001 is 169.8db. Going to do a little testing today and then work on the enclosure a little more to try to get that 170db.

The comparison in amp guts lead me to beleive that the GD6001 can put out more than the AP3001. The 6001 amp has the potential of doing 4000 watts and the build is totally different. AP put more into the 6001 than the 3001. I can get more out of it and it doesn't go into protect mode like the 3001. Look at that score up there. The amp speaks for itself and it cost more. The 3001 is built cheap.

i know alll about the 6001 it has been out for 3 yrs now.

you will not come close to 4000rms with a 12v system nowhere near.

now when you clamped it was it a rms meter and you played a test tone for over 5 sec right?

i have sold audiopipe sence the begaining, have installed almost everything they make, good products for the dollar...

Yes it was an rms reading and I played for well over 5 sec. My AC Amps 69.1 and my AC Volts 66.3.
To my calculations that is about 4583 watts@ 1.05 ohm.

I didn't state the obvious; I can get that out of it at 17 volts. I have the Kinetics that have 12 and 16 volt options. So with that being said I will run 17 volts in the shows coming up. BTW did you know that there is now a CEA rating for subwoofers? Now the true wattage sub companies will definitely take advantage of this which will probably drive pricing thru the roof. Rockford Fosgate has the CEA rated subs. I haven't done much investigation into it but I'm sure many more will jump on board.

I can tell you that I will be running AP for a long time because these amps are very good in competition and SQ compared to PA. I will never......ever use PA again.....but I will sell them. I also have the whole line up of AP.

JD, I will see you at one of Curtis's shows when ever I get this thing done. MADCAD95 and I are working on this truck together. We just need to find a vacation for our wives for about a week and we'll be good to go.

My set up is for the low freq SPL which is a new class at TBP.

it would be really stupid to cea a subwoofers power handling. it is relative to the enclosure and amp powering it. they better use class a/b during testing. but what it really prove rating subs this way?

i cant wait to check out the new txx-ap subs with 3" coils...

I don't think it would prove anything but I beleive that they are trying to weed out the companies that boast high output RMS so that they can help the bigger companies that comply make more $$$$. I totaly agree that it will not make sense to do this but hey this is a new time and when you have companies that need this kind of change to inform the customers of what they are purchasing, it really almost eliminates a lot of companies potential if they are not apart of this new trend. But we ole schoolers already know who is who on the circuit when it comes to serious subs and garbage.

I hear that the TXX-AP subs will do rather well. We'll have to wait and see. The subs for the most part are always badazz but I have to question the new 3001D because the guts are cheaply built and my concern is that they will have a lot of returns if they don't do something about the build.
I mean think about it for a second; the GD series is more expensive than the new AP series. And when you pop the bottom of the 2 and compare your eyes get stuck on the GD series because it is expensively built. They put some time and effort in the GD series. The AP; they must have just finished happy hour when it was time for blueprinting the set up.

i have had the backs off the 60001 and for the price wasnt all impressed. now the 15001 same as 30001 x2 is a good looking amp internally. i have pix if you want to see. the reason they look different is 2 different build houses. to me the 15001 looks very simular to how the hifonics amps are layed out...

Since it is basically the same as a ia20.1 or atomic 1800.1 or american bass 3000 but costs less than those other 3 I do not see how it is not a decent amp 4 the money granite I noticed the power supply rail voltage sits a little higher than the ia20.1 it can only play at a quarter of an ohm but does not need to go 2 a 1/16 of an ohm 2 come alive we all know what the gd6001 can do now I will post up wattage #s on the ap30001 this weekend to compare the 2.

that would be great please post.

didnt say it wasnt good for the dollar but take the back off a db drive 2000.1 that we used in 05-06. put it next to the 60001 and the 60001 dosent look nearly as beefy...

I know those amps very well also. Modded on 16 volts they are good for about 4900 watts. I am talking about the PD2000.1's. Don't believe me, ask any of the 20+ members on Team DB Driven that I know personaly.
