the gain adjusts how far you have to turn the knob on your headunit to get max power out of the amp.

e.g. the higher your amp gain, the less clicks on the headunit...

Depends on the head unit. Some radios only put out 1 or less volts, Some as much a 8, 10 or even 16 volts. If you turn the gain all the way up with one of these higher voltage head units, you will clip the amp at a much lower volume on the radio. Now turn the head unit up all the way (withe the gain still at max) the amp will be clipping bad and you may even go down in SPL about 1-2 dB.

Id say yes, unless they are 8 inch subs.

my 15 does 142.5 before the radio skips, on 1200 watts. So you either need a new box, better electrical system, vehicle more suited for SPL, or all 3.

15" Fi SSD *copper coil*
Hifonics BXI1206D @ 1ohm
3.75ft^3 box (thanks AZ_SS) with 33 OR 46 hz tune
Optima 34 Red Top
Big 3

142.5 Db's Outlaw 3rd place first ever competition. Player started skippin 5 seconds in... who knows if its louder. Well see next time :/

Stevieo, check out this site.

go to the list on the right side and go to # 63 gain controls. I'm sure you can get all the info you will need. This is in my option, the best site around for amp and sub info! plus a whole lot more [Wink]
