I know its early but, the early bird catches the worm! Next week, the astro work starts. I know each van is different but.

1: what freq do astros usually like? [Confused]
2: How big should I start box / port wise for 4 18's?

If you can think of anything else to make this build easier.. by all means, please suggest! the goal for her is mid 60's and better. [Big Grin]

As for boxes, I would like to try a band pass but I have no idea on how to tune them, so I was going to go with the old ported box [Frown] 4 18's and 4 to 8 amps (5k or 7k) [Wink]

I would say make the box as tall and as wide as you can, use up every inch of space. as for the depth I would recommend you start by as deep as you can and then shrink it down. Build it as big as you can (you can always make it smaller). I have a feeling you will end up about 30" deep but start big and work your way down.

also if you put a half round on pvc pipe on your port that is good for a few tenths. If you put duct tape around the subs that is good for a few tenths also

The width should be closer to 60 and narrower on top.

gavin you need to go MUCH wider then 48''

go AS WIDE AS POSSIBLE

take up every square inch of space in that thing.

Go ahead and figure out where your going to do your batteries and everything, i'd probobly go baack to the rear axle or so with the enclosure.

Especially if your wanting to mess with a bandpass

When I was running Sreet Max 3-4 with my 90' Astro, the box was, well lets put it this way, removable if you can believe itand easier to work with. I built a shell outside of the vehicle then put it inside through the side sliding door. The box was 44" tall which will just squeeze through the side door height wise. about 32" deep and I believe about 57" wide. The top of the box on each side had angle to it though to fit at the top on each side. Hope this helps. It was the traditional drivers side port design with subs on the passenger side. Used 4 memphis mojo 15's and only 4 Memphis mojo 2000d amplifiers and 1 extra battery for street max 3-4 and did 155.3 at world finals in 04'. Not to bad with only 8000-10000 watts total.

Well, the weather gave me a chance to get started on the tear down of my baby.
 -
 -

I had more pics but I screwed them up so they will be loaded tomorrow.
I found out that I have a rear ac, which will come in handy during the summer. Now its time to add a few goodies I've gotten just for her!
 -
 -
maybe a few more of these just to be safe.
 -
and I can't forget these guys
 -
step down module
 -

The GOAL!
 -
OR BETTER!

Now that I have an AMERICAN VAN, which side is best for the subs to be on? :dunno:
