In the market to buy a good head unit for my spl car. What does everyone use/recommend? This will be for a mod car and ran from outside of the car.
Figured I should look at SQ decks and then use a line driver from it?(if needed)

I run a street car, so it's not as relevant, but i use Alpine purely because of their fast volume scrolling and remote has good range - i've also found that it has never skipped on me - the car it was in before was a 152db car...

Alpine 9815, has some pretty cool built in processing for the SQ'ers.... but skips bad with the poor honda radio mounts, So I use an ai-net changer. This deck works awesome for CRX's because the motorized face tilts completely down and lets you burp direct through the windsheild. It also has the old remote that uses AAA batteries, and works alot farther then the new "card style" remotes.

I had an older Kenwood Excelon Cd player and CD Changer. It worked out pretty good, but my CD changer's suspension went out and the only way I could burp my CRX, without it skipping was with the Cd Changer outside my car. So I just bought a new Alpine 4 volt CDA-9885 CD Player and new Ai-Net CD Changer and my car gained about 3 tenths. So I guess I am an Alpine user, at least for now.

It has an electronic anti-skip memory buffer from what I heard, but I can't find the headunit even on Fusion's website(US).
Basically any headunit with built-in electronic buffer would work great for burps and what not, I think it should of been in all the headunits to start with

I used JVC Last Season with no problems but went to the bottom line Alpine for the same reasons. And It works great. A lot of people use the cheap Alpine I know Alan, Craig and I do. Don't use it for my daily driver!!! Back to JVC!

pioneer 7600mp ... they're horrible for SQ because of the diode/ground noise problem on all of em...but you can burp the piss out of them and the pause button is in a really nice spot. I actually have my head unit on a teather, and not even mounted, it just sits with the screen facing the dash sitting on my console so essentially its backwards pointing away from me. But I dont ever look at the screen anyways, I can just feel where the pause button is. Which really screws me up when I get in my vette and the pause button is actually on my dash. I try to pause my vette's head unit and grab the back wall of my car like a dumbass

512MB isn't very much storage. You can get 4GB on a USB stick for 28bucks. and hell, for cheaper, you could get a JVC Arsenal KDADV38. It does USB, DVD(vid and audio), and bluetooth ALL built in. and you can add full ipod, sat radio, aux video/audio ins and outs, steering controls, changers, rearview camera, etc... and we sell them at a high-priced retail shop for under 600. 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS, Center channel pre-out, and time-alignment. dualzone audio. pause. 7band iEQ parametric to the max. all in a single-din, non flip-out
