Thanks man. I have a guy running two DD3515 on 2.8K RMS .. Thanks for your help. We are gonna point subs up port back .. 25sq in of port per cube 18" long will tune to 46 or 47hz and should peak nicely in the low 50hzs . .

Made it modular too . . so covering 1/3 of the port will tune to 40hz for daily . . Thanks for your help man.

I'm in a Blazer, almost the same as the Explorer and I do my best with the sub up and ports to the drivers side. I tried the sub up and ports back but did better when I moved the ports to the side.

I think you'll find the "daily" setup mentioned to be louder on the meter. BTW mine peaks at 49-51 depending on the size of the box and position in the car. Port tuning doesn't seem to have much effect on the peak frequency, within reason. It only seems to effect how loud it is.

I did a 152 with a pair of alpine type rs but for about 2-4 burps then no more. Did a mid 151 with one memphis 4kw and 2 dd9510s to bad that somewhere along the lines after getting a new battery and reconing the subs I would only do a 150.5 with two amps. But I am confident I can do a 152-53 in a with about an hours worth of testing and the same equipment [Smile]

Let me add not every single box will be louder at a certain same frequency as others like say 48 hertz. I have had boxes that like 50 hertz, I had some that like 47 hertz dunno why and really don't care why. If I remember right 47 hertz was the loudest for my street a box but my notes say 48.

What I am trying to say is if you really want to be as loud as possible you dont just tune to a certain frequency and try to only peak say at 49 hertz and hope to be the loudest. YOU GOT TO TEST LIKE CRAZY each box you make you test it, say from 46 hertz to 51 or so.

Some more advice

Never change more then one thing while testing or before testing. Say you change the port length dont add angles in the box. first do one then the other with testing in between

Make notes of everything you do.

Usually start with a sort of big box if budget is limited and cut it down an inch each time and test. till you find the loudest box size for you particular vehicle and setup. same thing with ports but usually I only cut 1/2 inch off at a time... and sometimes less

Test with full power and all the amps you want to run and possibly with the amps you want to run.

If you follow those easy steps you will get sort of loud. Now all the big dogs like tuan, koller, terry use unique designs to get those unique numbers. I wont give out tuans box designs or others but I will say that one of them sold everything but one part cause personally I built one to and it took many many hours to built for my street a and c setup.

What you mean test with full power? set volume to max? What is the point to do this? If you test a lot at max volume you can damage your subs I think. When I test my boxes I test them on 14V, but I don't set max volume. I set, I don't know maybe 70-80% of volume. And I always use same volume with different boxes and write down all measurement results in excel file and after measurements I compare them.

deck volume will depend on the gain of the amps
