Put some composits in those speakers. If it happend one time it could happen many, with the composits it will hold up better.

What are composits? I would like to know what the heck caused this in the first place. There is no step so there should be no uneven back pressure like before. wtf???

thats where my 9515s broke last season.
the composite cone he is talking about is what make the 99 sub a 99. the 95 series is a paper cone and the 99 has the composite (kevlar) cone that doesnt break in that spot. with that cone the weak spot is where the cone and coil are glued together

your best bet is going to be having them send you a cone assembly. there isnt enough time to send them the motor.

my one good 18" maxximus sub (to be installed)

and put all the power I got to it! 4 Goliaths @.35 each! Hell, if dante can get a crazy score with 4 amps and 1 sub, I'm sure I can at least make these people worry when I beat them with less equipment!

Well, I hope I won't loose too much with the setup now. also, I always had problems with the bottom, the dam subs keep blowing up! I hope this problem has been corrected with the 1 sub setup.

The 18s blew because of the step, fact.

The 95 blew for a different reason, one that I couldnt guess at.

Could have easily been a bad cone.

Ill agree with Chris and Dieter though, a sub in the bottom of the baffle will be louder, fact.

I wish I had the time to pull it and try it as everyone has suggested but I only have 3 weeks now, and every minute is important. Right now, she's doing 148.06 @ 71Hz with just the rounded front piece on the baffle. Of course, I'll add more 2x4's to bring her down.

 -
 -
after that, I'll try adding these length boards to here and see what happens!
plus, now I'm using a D2 cone kit for testing, after I get here tuned right, I'm gonna change her out to a D .7 ( 4 goliaths @.35 a piece)cone kit. I hope that will pick my score up a little. My goal is 158 or better.

any thoughts??

How things change so quickly:
PPL, its 3am so ya know I got stress writing this time of morning!

I just found out that the champ got his solo x 18's repaired so now he has 2 18's and 8 T3000bd's working well, as for me I got

 -
1: 18" sub(not installed yet, old pic) and 4 XX-Goliaths
or..
 -
2: 2 9515 d2 DD subs and 4 Goliaths to challenge him with.

Problem, which would you suggest is the better way to go! :? :-( I know that the Maxximus sub will take the power, but 2 15's will give more cone area.
I got paper work on both so starting from scratch is not gonna happen well............. I just don't know which setup would be best?
No sleep for the last 2 weeks, lost 5 lbs. zombie mode! Nothing seems to be more important then Finals. is this ok?

advice please 2 weeks to go! 10/21 JUDGEMENT DAY!

Well, I guess I'm serious then! lol
They say that the third time is a charm, well I finally got the darn sub reconed and back in the car tonight, and to be safe, I put the new reconed one on the top, I also made the box bigger, now its 10.31cu.ft with a port measurement of
H=32"
W=20"
D=14.5"
Using length boards now to try and tune her. using BBPro 6, just the way she is now, It say's I'm tuned to 64.1Hz. I know its not 100% right but at least I'm not high up in the 70's like before..(I hope) Tomorrow will start testing but I'll go easy being that there's a new reconed in the mix.
I hope nothing else goes wrong! cross your fingers,legs, eyes, toes and anything else you can cross for me! [Wink] [Frown] [Eek!]

Thanks, I need all the luck I can get! I got a little more done today, I'm testing the angle boards now in the back corner behind the sub, I've gone from 1 1/2" wide to 12"wide and so far it seems that the 10" board is giving the best results. later today, I'll test the port side and see what she will give me. After I get the angles done, It's port time! Dam, 8 days to go and I feel like I'm so far behind! Between bad weather and my day job (that pays the bills!) It seems like I'll never get this car done!

I wish you also the best...
But isnt it better to spend more time in your car and testing or build than keep in front of your computer and telling us whats happend? It is more exiting to me when your telling us Progress upward to more db....

But thats my opinion...

But i wish you really the best to kick ass in finals...

Best regards
