I am buying a 95 jeep and i need some jeep owner's opinion's on how to make it loud-very loud. I would like to know some diffrent type's of set up and things like that.
There are 3 other Jeep owners on the site that compete, we compare notes all the time. Plus, if you'd like....PM me and I can show you all the setups ive put in my jeep, I usually change the box/subs every month.

He is right to a certain extent, there is quite a bit more interior padding in the Grands, and the Cherokee's are more of a big plain resonating box. You should see some of the vids of my roof flexing

yeah, I'm going to be, I need to get a new radiator fan relay in 1st though, damn fan stopped working allready lol. should be ok to go after that. I have my MT 18" in there now in a box like 6.5ft^3 two 6" ports rear firing. not even hooked up kinetik monsters sitting on both sides of the box lol. I'll get to it today maybe. I need an HU though so I may pick up a piece of crap at wal-mart or something... left my pioneer 8600mp in when I traded the car and set the stocker on the seat so someone could score so long as they weren't lazy like me. I kept the remote though lmao.

yah with an 18 u are loudest sub up port back, i'd also try ports up. i had an 01 and it would peak around 48hz so i'd have to tune to 42hz or so. now i got an '04, same interior, same everything but it peaks at 52hz and i have to tune to 47ish.
i find that u dont need much space between hatch and port if u are firing back. my best is about 4 inches, anything more and i loose spl. i found also that it's better not to have a box thats as wide as your trunk, if u can get about a foot clearance on the passanger side between the side of the car and the box u will gain spl at the meter, this was true for both jeeps i had.
if you want it to slam with music i'd tune to around 32hz, that's what sounded the best in mine with 3 12's and a colossus. i had a box that was about 4.5 cubes with 3 aero ports firing back.
if u ever go to a comp here are the things that help.....remove the fake floor that covers the spare tire, that was like 0.5 db for me. put the passanger seat all the way up front and all the way straight up, that was about 0.2 db, passanger visor straight down, another 0.2 db. and someone on the windshiled was another 0.2 db. u might also want to jack up the box abit off the floor, like put 2x4's underneath or something, that helps the air to flow better to the front of the vehicle, i dont remember what i gained but it was a gain.
i also found that grand cherokees dont need a big box. i went from like a 8 cube box down to about 3 and gained huge, it's all in the tuning with that vehicle.
if u go ss1-2 try firing your 18's into the driver side with ports firing back....i gain when i do that with 12's but it also depends on the box i used.
another good idea is to make your sub mounting surface a double layer, especially if u are using an 18 with that much power.
good luck

I usually double all box sizes, sorry about the inbox being full didn't even realize lol
Thanks for all the tips.
it's all back right now 35hz but it isn't even hooked up lol, my deck should be here this week sometime and then I'll do the wiring mids and hook up the sub. I have my sub between the tire wells just fits so like 34" wide, there is the width of each tire well on both sides for air to flow to the front. I'll try all up also. then do a box ports back and sub front, then rotate said box to sub front ports up and see what happens.
THANKS AGAIN!
Tom
