anymore, it feels like I'm on monster garage. I'm sealing off my trunk from the cabin.. using 1 dd9915c and 1 us amps 400x that does 4000 watts at 2ohm. (still waiting for my 9915 to get back from a recone)

the box before displacement is 7.25 cubes, I'm going to have removable ports, the spl port is 150sq in tuned to 50hz leaving me an internal volume of 5.9 cubes. the daily driver port is going to be at 30hz, and in the shape of the DD logo. I gutted the car from the front seats back to get at this. if I fiberglass the first 21.5" of my trunk, along with going back 27.5" from the baffle I'll have exactly 7.25 cubes before port and driver displacement. I plan on glassing the entire box and bracing all of the corners, with them rounded over also.

pics you say?

http://www.sounddomain.com/ride/223385/15

I did a 145.6 with my old setup just throwing a box in there without really planning. I hope with a more "appropriate" box and a better tuning with double the power will help me reach my goal of 150+ dB..

anyone have any tips, comments, suggestions?

i would say its possible just not easy... you and me will be doing about the same thing, a half wall and single 15 setup with about 4000 watts, im only have around 1800 or 2000 right now but im getting another of the same amps, i really dont think mine will do a 150 on the new termpro right now, but i might get close with 2 amps totalling around 4000 watts, also my spl box is 115 sq port tuned to 49hz, 6.8 cubes after displacement. if your making the wall in the back seat like me, i think you should use expanding foam to fill in gaps like i did. its $5 a can and you can use it up fast but it really does help...

keep me updated i would like to know how it turns out you can check pics of my box im done with it...

I finished up my first coat of fiberglass in the tire well earlier before I went in to work (and working at walmart.. the fiberglass fumes make work soooooooo much easier) few more coats, and I'll start building up the sides of the box...

I'm still designing how I'm going to do the ports.. I'm thinking about having something built behind them so I can bolt in different sized ports so I can adjust things.. and as for mounting the sub, I remembered something from back in high school physics on the direction of sound and how we played with something that went over the speaker to make things more directional, so I may try that out on a much larger scale. my page is being updated daily (except for today becuz I'm lazy.. )

well, at the rate I'm going.. this should be done on fri or sat.. I have the wheel well just about done being fiberglassed.. just need to build up the sides and decide what I'm doing with the port.

I called DD today.. turns out my sub hasn't even shipped yet. they've had it for 6-7 weeks now.. for as long as it takes, ya think I'd get something free for the wait.. or at least a replacement... I'm sopsoed to call on wed to find out for sure if it's going to be here in time. so I dunno whether or not I'll have that sub there or not.. I might throw in a cheap 15 and burp it and see if I can fry it

are you going for slap points

I could bring a dual 2 dd9512 if you make a adaptor just don't give it the full 4000 in that box.

yeah.. I was.. but I figured I have a 1200 dollar sub, an amp that does 4000 watts.. why the hell not? I'm not getting any younger (haha.. if you knew me, you'd understand.. I'm 22) as I've been working on this install, I think my "passion" has come back to me..

dark_stile: I'm going to the Team Nutz Technology on Aug 7th.. I just need to get all of this done on the 6th so I can leave early on the 7th (I'm horrible in big cities trying to find stuff)

right now, I'm just contemplating whether or not I should leave my battery in and compete in SS 1-2 NW, or take it out and compete in Street B.. but.. I've never competed before in dBDrag (woohoo.. free membership!!) so I dunno if I could even get into Mini Street B..

FYI: That amp will not do 4000 watts rms. You're probably going to need more power for what you want to do. My suggestion would be to get another 400x and run one on each coil @ 2ohm mono. Those amps should be able to run at that impedence, may run a bit hot but they should do it without the SAT kicking in if you can feed it enough current and keep that voltage steady.

I've ran that amp at 1ohm for 30 seconds before it shut off.. and it was modified at us amps to be 2ohm stable to put out 4000 watts each..

here's ddman's link (I bought one of his old ones)

I don't see why it would need to be modified to run at 2 ohm. I ran my unmodded 2000x at 2 ohm mono for daily and it was fine. Just wondering, but have you tested the amp to put out 4k rms? I just can't see it putting out that much but if it does, then that's awesome.

well... the box is done.. more or less.. I just have to cut a piece for the port so it can bolt into the baffle.. I think it looks pretty damn nice.. I'm high off fiberglass fumes right now, and I have to be at work in an hour. I still have to wire up the amps, I threw in a piece of mdf for a temp amp rack, then I get off work at 11, I'll wire the amps up real quick, actually, I'll do that on my lunch at work.. so that won't be too bad..

I should be ready to head out of here between 10-11 to make it to the comp in pittsburgh!! too bad I won't have my good sub back.. I hope this box is a killer.. at least it won't be sliding around like my old boxes did

thanks.. it's 2am.. just finished getting everything hooked up, seats back in.. just need to make 2 ports, find my speaker wire somewhere, and make a baffle for a 12" sub..

I have my batteries charging, cordless drill charging, beer cooling, ice cubes freezing, drunk guy passed out on my couch (he was on the driveway, then I carried him in)... so hopefully tomorrow is going to be a hell of alot of fun!
