Wouldn't suprise me a bit...something about playing music on a woofer that it's not meant to be played on...but whatever. We're not starting another pissing match.

I seriously doubt he folded it like that..unless he completely slung the coil out of the gap and hung it on the top plate...it aint happenin [Smile]

people people pay the money, this is a sport. to win you have to pay to play to me dd makes the best spl subs and have done so for years, there are some players coming up in the game but sooner are later they all will have to charge you something to fix a sub, prices are goning up each 1/4 for parts for subs, labor, etc i am kind of sick of this cost this that cost that! most folks on here don't know what it was like to buy a cd player when they were $800.00 small amps $500.00 i have never had mad money so i saved up or put it on layaway and was proud when it was in my ride and took care of the items, now people are like so what or cry about some cost! i tell you what i will sell you all the parts to build your own subs you do all the r&d and you build a proto about 20+ times and then you would gladly pay dd re anyone the recone fee. just my $1.00 not 2cents.

I sent my DD9915 in for a recone a few months ago, it was 200 to get fixed and shipped back to me

they have to recone the 9900 series drivers inhouse.. but if you know of someone that's auth'd to do recones, they'll send out a kit for them to recone it for you.. my friend recones 9500 series woofers for people but they wouldn't let him recone my 9915

Just had one done, 9917, one of the original beast series with Quad magnets. $220 for the recone to Quad coil (including special spiders and coils), $3.00 for a rubber ring that was 3 inches too short because apparently they only make then for 9515's (go figure). Shipping was out of this world, got I hate UPS. Got another one going in for a rebuild, hope it's' faster. Should be metering the new install early next week, hope it can handle the power.

Kind Regards,
Matt

You do understand that all but 2 of those subs were reconed for impedance changes and were perfectly good subs when they were cut apart dont you? I think it had something to do with most of our team's amps becoming illegal the day of the show.

As usual you blast up in here acting like a complete baffoon. You wonder why nobody likes you.

It does cost $$ to recone the DD's... But it is nearly impossible to kill them. I have never had any probs with my 9917's when using them properly.... only time I blew them was a 2 min burp immediately followed by a 3 min burp with an inadequate ele system, otherwise known as "idiot on volume knob syndrome" I still use DD and have good numbers at finals and can play 150 db music all day.

RE makes great subs also...keeping my eye on them.

Shocker makes great subs also... owner is busy guy though.

Shipping cost is going to be expensive on any of the subs I mentioned. Recone costs may vary but I doubt any company is doing them for free.

Thanks. I saw the original.

Good points, but my whole gripe with DD is that they won't let me recone my own subs. I rebuild subs for myself and my customers and most parts are available from most companies. I'm very interested in playing with DD's subs, but since I might blow them up, I need to be able to rebuild them and keep testing. Besides, it's alot cheaper to pay for shipping on a recone kit versus a sub with basket and motor [not to mention the shipping nightmares with broken magnets/baskets]. It's like Ford telling you that you can't buy their parts to fix your Ford. They'll sell them to you, but only if you pay them to fix it. But Chevy will sell you all the parts you need to fix it yourself. Who's car would you buy?

it takes 4hrs to recone a 9500 series sub.. and they like to have their recones done by authorized personel. I understand that you recone subs and all that..

but look at it this way... would you rather have some idiot on the side of the road fix your engine, or would you rather have someone that's gone and gotten the education to do it?

It takes 4 hours to recone a DD 9500 series. I dont think so, I've done it in less than 15 mins!

David, actually maybe only one of those subs were being rebuilt because there was a prob, because my 18 that I'm in the pic cleaning up(crouched down to the right of scott in the navy blue shirt) was being rebuilt to go with dual .7's instead of dual 1.4's like it had in it when I showed up at finals. Gained .8db by switching too, thanks for always being there to help out bro. RE gets my vote.
