The cone surface area of the 18" Solo X is the equivalent of 4 x 10" subs.

Would you rather install 1 x 18" solo X with 5000w and kill you whole car space or install 4 x 10" RE or DD subs with 5000w on each and still have space in your ride.

At the end of the day they both have the same cone surface area. So whats the point to this thread? My point is that why go solo X when you can achive so much more.

in theory, a higher motor/cone ratio is better, so i would opt for 4 solo x 10's over 1 solo x 18. [Big Grin]

but with 4 other subs you have more motor strength than that of one motor, so while the 1 18 might meter louder, the 4 10s is more than likely gonna sound louder

IMO even though the 18 has more stroke, it doesn't
mean it will reach it's xmax at fb! 4 10's with more motor strengh and lighter cone will more than
likely move more at fb, just make sure all of the
10's are touching frames or in a preferrably in a square. It's not a matter of how far can your sub move, its about how far your sub is Actually moving. [Cool]

What does it matter if the subs are touching frames?

its not touching frames that really matters,
its trying to combine multiple drivers to propagate a single wave your're trying to accomplish, and also to maximize port area.

I would love to see a 10" sub that is able to handle 5000w of thermal power for more then a few burps.

I guess you meant 5000 divided between the 4 subs.
