What kind of numbers have you all seen out of the trunk of a mustang? I am wondering because a good friend of mine is telling me he is gonna get 150s on an audiocontrol meter. If you remember what was being used please tell me, if you don't mind.

IMO 150's in a mustang dbdrag style is VERY VERY hard to obtain. the loudest I have ever been is 148.1 with 4 tens sealed and 1600watts. that was outlaw also. Dbdrag the loudest I have ever been is 141.5 If your friend can do it let me know what he uses.

going to get metered soon... but for those who have tried or checked, a 15" sub is too hard to fit in those damn trunks without extreme angling of the sub.

We managed to fit a 15" brahma into a 2.6 cu ft box sealed for SQ... we had to cut a ton of sheet metal. but damn it's loud. I'd say by ear it's louder than my 147.1dB setup with the B15 in a 6.2 cu ft box ported in a wall in my explorer.

we are going to meter on a linear X around the 17th of july, but until then we will soon meter on an old Termpro mic (monday)

Well,

Chris Z of my Team does 150's (used to be 150 flat, now it's constantly rising) out of the trunk of a 02 Mustang GT.

A pair of JBL BP1200.1's provide the power for 2 resonant engineering HC10 d2's. Definately an impressive daily driver, that cranks some serious numbers.

I drive an 88' 5.0 mustang hatch and i want to be a bit louder. djs_w7, how were you facing the box and port when you got that score. I have a 4.25 cf fiberglass box in the hatch of my 5.0 with an HC 15 tuned to 36. I wanna break into the mid 140's coming july 20th at the local comp... but i might wanna redo that box to get some more SPL. Also... how the hell did you get power outa that alternator!!? Mine cant even handle my jbl 1200.1 without practically killing my car. Just dumb questions i guess... you could prolly shut me up with a few pics of your install...

In my previous 2000 mustang I hit 152.1dbs. I had 200 square feet of dynomat. (1) DD9515C, in a 5cubic foot box ported, and an earthquake D2, on a stock electrical system. One upgrade was 0 gauge wire from the alt to the battery. I know its hard to believe but my woofer was facing foward on the drivers side, the port (tunned to 32) was on the passenger side. I didn't mod my D2 or anything. I ran the radio straight out the trunk. I unpaused it and 152.1, on a sweep of tones. with the head unit watching music videos (sisco's can I live) I still hit 150.3. I have another 2000 mustang and I plan on hitting 150s again. but this time with a single 10 soloX, and a D2. If I get close then I'll throw in another D2 just for kicks. maybe upgrade my alt.

2000 Mustang 3.8 5 speed
5.3" detactable face dvd system. 7" rear view screen.
Crotch cam under dash.
250 amp alt.
(1) 10" solo X dual 1 ohm
box 1.5cubic feet tuned to 44hz.
(1) SS10,000
and only 2/0 gauge wire through out the car.
epic 160 hitting 152 on it in the dash at 1 ohm.

I've fit two 15"s and two 10"s in the trunk of either a 95 or 97 mustang 6cylinder. probably only score around 135 since it only had a couple hundred watts.
Managed to fit two 12" MA's ported, around 6cf...and a full airbag setup, tank, compressor, all that jazz in the trunk of a 2000 GT, probably low 140's on an old 1501bd.
I wish one of them cared about SPL. I wanna do 150's in a stang too.

From my experience you did the right thing firing forward and putting the sub and port where you did. The only other thing I can think of is if you baffled the box so that the air has to move in the box? That has helped me a lot! Keep that port 1/4 wavelength in distance from the sub via baffles if you can!

we just did two 12w6's on a JL 1000/1 in a 2007 mustang. definitely a MUSIC setup, not for SPL. I bet it does around 146-147 around 40Hz. not bad for 1kW that could stay in St-B
