i was just down at a truck show in irvine with my club, anyways they had a sound off going and i didnt have enough money to enter so i asked if i could run my truck through after the comp was over to see what i got, and so they let me
so i was totally unprepared and had no freq cd so i pulled out the old andre nickatina burned cd and put on "killer whale", not to mention i just taken out my friends alpine 7873 he was letting me use and had my 3 year old sony explode deck in(like i said i wasnt prepared-its my deck to use in between new decks)
so as they were finishing up i disconnected my rca wires to my door speaker amp and fast forwarded it to the middle of the song, i pull up in line and the dude gets the mic all ready and says "go", i was like "give it a sec" cause i had to turn the deck off and turn it on to burp it, no remote(like i said old deck) so the guy was laughing at me, my first run i hit a 137.4, i was pretty disappointed but since it was legal and a linear-x i wasnt too mad, so they let me run again, anyways my second time i hit a 146.3, which would have been enough to win my class, so i was mad at that but happy about the score
so now im going to seal my box up, it leaks air because i had to make a new faceplate for the subs and it never sealed up right, at the resolution show in december, im going to have a new box(more airspace) and a better deck with a remote, oh and one of those freq cd's, ill be looking for 150 hopefully

oh i was running two mtx 8000 10's in a sealed(sorta) box, don't know how much airspace my friend built it for my 6000's, i think like 1.8 tho, and a 8100D, i also have a 200 amp HO alternator and a deep cycle in my bed

150 is a bit out there, especially for 10s sealed, but who knows. If the install is great, you never know.
As for a better score...ported box, rev up the engine, definitely test tones(or sweep)
There are a lot of things out there that you could do to raise your score. Try facing the subs a different direction.

i might try porting this next box, im going to email mtx and ask them what the best airspace for those 10's are, also should i dynamat?
but yeah im happy with the 146, considering ive never done this before, unfortunately im going to stop spending my $$$ on the audio and bag my truck, hopefully it will done by this show coming up in december

Yes, dynamat should give you a little better score....because more of the energy is transfered inside of the car instead of it being lost to the rattling. I, personally, wouldn't use dynamat, due to the cost.
RAAMmat60 B-Quiet Xtreme Brown Bread
those are just some alternatives that you could use, at a fraction of the cost.

You should do everything as humanly possible: firewall, floorpan, doors, the rear wall, and if possible...do the roof(except the liner might have to be re-adheared to the roof, so keep that in mind). If you have enough, yes, definitely do 2 layers. The more the better. Just keep in mind that you have to put the panels back on over it...so don't get carried away.

Better to call MTX than email...so far, its been 2 weeks since I ermailed them TWICE...and still no response. I know they usually email me back right away....I think a few employees called in sick

i think im going to do about 2.5 cubic feet and port the box, anyone have a recommended size, was thinking a 3" port, also should i aim the port at my dash

Yes, porting can definitely improve your score. Porting can add anywhere from 1-5 dbs...depending of course on where you tune your box to.
