I have a question for people who have heard 140 150 and 160 + db's in cars.

When you sit in a 140 dB car you have tingleing in your ears? Is around 145 dB when you find it difficult to breathe? How many dB's untill your vision is affected? When is it a good time to upgrade to plexi windows? 160 dB? I want to know what you guys think.

yeah, actually you do, although when night falls and it cools down high 70's low 80's it starts hurting more, dunno why, i guess cooler weather, is still will make me a little "drunk", use to all the time for the first month when i got it, i mean the disorienated feeling and everything seems weird, and light headed!, lol heck you should stand next to the car on lows in the door way, feels like it is trying to suck you into the car, that and about takes your shirt off you

I have a car that does low to mid 150s with music, and I'd have to say that the effects are really frequency dependant. I get blurred vision with the higher material, like say 60 Hz, but the lows feel much louder. I also have a friend with a vehicle that does like 148 at 30-35 Hz (door open) and that feels just like a high powered fan is blowing on you, but doesn't hit you in the throat and blur your vision like the upper stuff does. Also, I don't think an upgrade in windows is very necessary unless you're competing in Extreme class, but I guess if you do something crazy, like 165+ with music, maybe plexi would be needed.

157.8 daily driven. And I never thought that I'd have a system that was too loud, but this one is if I crank it. LOL And you can't breathe through your nose on bass hits. Any empty coke cans in the holder get launched from the vibration, and dont even think about trying to swallow or drink anythink on bass notes - you will incompletely swallow it and then choke. And as OSTENTATIOUSJ said, you cant read signs with it all the way up.

p.s. I remember when i was in the mid 140's, people would sit in my car and say yeah i like that, anymore, when it hits the look for intense fear and pain on their face and they grabe the handle on the door and jump out of the car is amazing, it is just a look of pure terror and pain, and i get this all the time, even from the brothers, that is WAY too loud, Shop salesmen, that is TOO LOUD, installers, THAT IS TOO LOUD, lol. not for me, nobody believes me i listen to it full volume all the time, lol ok well thanks for listening

big nick, you are probaly in the 130's, most systems are, cause 130-140 sound goes up 10 times, as it always does with 10 db, so majority fall in that 130-140 range, cause that is a pretty big range, them most competiers fall 140-150, we are talking about normal competetors, not crazy people like i, lol

I don't think I know what this means. There's nothing that's too loud for me. I love 160+dB's. Feel great. And that's daily driven too.

i believe Orion said it best in their HCCA amplifier ads a few years back:

Loud...it's when you can see the ground move, it's when you have to force yourself to breath, it's when the rest of the world ceases to exist.

(must put in sig)

P.S. to all of you people listening to 155+ db's, Have you experinced any hearing loss? [Smile]

It's better to hum along at high SPL's around 30 to 35Hz just for the simple Fact of the CR factor. Some should know what the I'm talkin about. It's all about the CR FACTOR. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

what was that? I can't hear ya, lol
Pretty loud eh, imagine this, I just popped 2 Shocker Xtremes on a D2 in my car, and guess how much louder it is right now?
No disrespect to the W7 but I can not afford the 4000$ and up amplifier not yet anyhow.
Its 2.2 db louder than the w7s on a D2, Can't wait till the next triple pointer to see how it does.
I just hope I can get a nice certified score for finals... (if the mics are not LOW again!!!)Peace Out.
