Competitors may use the program material of their choice.
--I think we should contemplate this idea because: 1) It doesn’t promote the use & sale of the CD 2) “new” competitors often don’’t understand what measures loud, this CD helps 3) does EVERY promoter have new software to flag freq >80Hz? we should think about this one a little more
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- For clarification purposes, the dBDRA uses the term “modifications” to describe changes to the vehicle that have been made in order to accommodate the sound system or improve the competitor’s score.
Some examples of modifications include:
Replacing the OEM glass Replacing the OEM dashboard Replacing the OEM seats Reinforcing the door panels Floor build-ups and roof build-downs
--I would change the wording to: For clarification purposes, .... describe changes to the INTERIOR or EXTERIOR of the vehicle that have been made ....improve the competitor’s score.
1) replacing, reinforcing, or otherwise altering the OEM glass 2) replacing, reinforcing, or otherwise altering dash, door, ceiling, floor, console, seats or other panels
Altering includes moving, changing the shape, form or function of an object. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Super Stock Division Guidelines
1 Modifications to the passenger compartment are prohibited. 2 The competitor may not remove the seats from the vehicle. All seats must remain in the upright position during competition. 3 Nothing in the sound system may interfere with the normal use and / or operation of the vehicle. 4 Subwoofers mounted in the rear-deck are acceptable. 5 Speaker walls are prohibited. 6 If the vehicle is a pick-up truck and the subwoofer enclosure is mounted behind the seat, compliance with the “string test” is not required. 7 The in-dash source unit must be used. ----- 1, 3, 4, 6, 7 are good. 2) All front seats need to be OEM. All front seats (driver, passenger, and arm rests) must remain upright. Rear seats may be folded down as per factory hinges, but rear seats may not be removed or otherwise altered. This will allow sedans to compete....seeing as we want average Joe’s to have a chance to win. 5) we need to define a wall...can I build a box in the rear seat, up to window height, up to roof height, up to seat height??? too vague, we need to clarify. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- The floor-to-roof brace(s) is limited to a maximum aggregate width of 6 inches. (To determine compliance with this guideline, find the widest point on each of your braces. Next, add these width’s together. The total value must be 6 inches or less.) --- maybe I’m just dumb, but can you clarify this...does this mean that I can have 4- 1.5” outer diameter square tubes for bracing, or does it mean that I can have unlimited numbers of braces with each one being a maximum of 6 inches? Also, what if the braces are round, as in they don’t have an “edge”? Then the diameter? *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- All of the components in the sound system (with the exception of an external podium or source unit) must be located within the vehicle proper. (This includes, but is not limited to, alternators, batteries, amplifiers, enclosures, and speakers.) --- please define vehicle proper....can I cut out the floor to make it square? how about the roof? If I can cut the floor, then I can raise the vehicle 3 feet to accommodate my batteries, amps, box, etc...
I don’t believe conversion tops of any sort, which extend the skin of the vehicle should be allowed. If they are allowed, then ALL external vehicle mods should be allowed. This is unfair to those who don’t compete with a van otherwise.
I think if this rule is to be enforced...ALMOST ALL current big time competitors will have to do some serious remods to the car. How many of you haven't cut the floor, trunk, ceiling, windshield frame, etc.... Either no mods or full mods, otherwise a gray area will exist and be exploited. After all this is to showcase the EXTREME side of car audio
what do you think???? Just some of the things I see as potential problems. For the most part the rules and INTENTIONS of the rules are very good. We just need some clarifications.
Thanx Wayne.

Just to clarify my thoughts / position.... I think ANY set of rules will be good...as long as they
1) are clearly defined with no "gray" areas 2) are enforced 3) are agreed to by a majority of competitors
and here's a thought on the SS class.
Rather than only Pro vs Ama or some other split of it, why not automatically move people into semi-mod if 1) You or the vehicle being used competed during the previous 5 years AND you or the vehicle during those 5 years: a) accepted an invite to World Finals or b) placed first at a "regional" event (based on the new regions) or c) placed first at a triple point event
The movement would take place AFTER the year in which the feat was accomplished.
This will keep new blood coming into the sport.
