I was wonderin if it would be possible to build like almost a giant cannon...
What I was thinking of is an octagonal shaped box about 9 feet long and maybe 4 feet in diameter with 16 15" subs in it... Perhaps Juggs, but it doesn't really matter.
In the box there would be four rows, each of four woofers which are oriented to the outer corners of the box. The four would share a large chamber and be vented by four 6" diameter ports. Inside the box there would be a huge 'channel', perhaps two feet in diameter that runs from one end to the other and is blocked at one side. All sixteen woofers would fire into this chamber and the air would travel forward.
Would this work at all? I was thinking you could put it in the back of a pickup with the ports facing into the cab. Should each sub have its own enclosure (which would have to vent into the center vent or be sealed)?
It was just kind of a funny thought I didn't see why it wouldnt work. Can anybody help me out?

can you say cancellation? OUCH! By having more than 2 maybe 3 subs deep you will have bad problems. I believe Alma Gates had the same problem before they used time allignment. If you have the subs going that deep and firing into one another it wouldnt work well. Might get better results on going back on slants. Just a couple of thoughts.

One of the shops had a Lanzar box (back when Lanzar was still on high!) of 6 8s. It was a dual ported box (just before bp styles were getting popular). All 6 subs fired into a single chamber which had 2 ports in it, each going to the oposite side and ran to the middle sub. 3 subs per side, 2 ported bp box, and max power (600+) = rather forceful from the ports! Granted, this is a much smaller version of your cannon, but the concept could work, as long as you can figure a way to ensure cancellation doesn't occur, as stated above. Hrm, what if you had them slanted to face the front of the "barrel":
l / / / / l l l l \ \ \ \ l
l = end of barrel, \ & / = sub placement to fire forward. Then they could be repeated on top&bottom/left&right to = 16. If you have the subs already, might be worth a try with wood (if you can get it cheaply or already have it). But, not sure if it'd be worth the expense for the experiment, if it doesn't go right. But, hey, innovation is what this sport is all about
Back to HTML coding....eeesh

Heh yeah that might work. Not about to try it tho I don't want to spend 100's of $$$ on wood then have it not work.. hehe.
