I just put in a wall not quite finished still ugly. but any way I have
4- 12" CV Vega's.
2 per chamber
2 boxes @ 4.65 ft^3 tuned at 40hz
ports = 4 - 4" by 14.33 in each chamber.
I still have a 6" high by 48" wide opening going to the back of the car that will be blocked off with plexy glass. ( this is my daily driver). have'nt had time to hook up the HK's still running of the Zues.
heres my problem, I have a very high sensitivity around 80-90hz and my very low bass 30-45hz isnt what I expected. any Ideas on the high freq peak? will that opening effect my largest dimension seen by the speakers and decrease my low end gain?

three questions! are thosee the dimensions the factory gave you, i used the 15's to the factory specs and ended up with good highs but not so good lows. are those zues amps gen x's, and if you are not going to use them any more would you be willing to part wih them ?

no, those are'nt the factory specs but close to them. the amp is a generation x. I just got it like 6 months ago. paid $900, so I,m trying to get some money out of it in my local recycler. If nothing happens I'll let you know.
Merry Christmas!

Here's a quick test...
Block off two ports per chamber (for a total of two open ports per chamber (two woofers per chamber)).

This will tune to high 20's somewhere. Does the low end get considerably better or not? If yes, you need to retune you box. If not, you are probably experiencing a "loading" problem, and may want to try a "baffle" board or some other things.

You may also want to try it with 1 port blocked off, leaving three open. This should tune it to mid 30's.

Let me know how it goes.

I checked the box, and it was tuned to 37hz not 40hz. Plus my seats where blocking 1.5 of the ports so it was tuned way to low which is what i suspected. It suonded more like a sealed box.
retuned it, move the port's and it sounds much better. removed the zues, hooked up the HK's and the SQ difference was night and day. I always thought the zues didnt sound right. something in the feedback. I still need to replace the 6" X 4' gap above the wall with some plexy glass. Do you know if that will make a big differance. this is a daily driver so I need to be able to see behind my car.

That is what your side mirrors are for. I had a wall in my mustang and now i have one in my Astro and i dont even use my rear view mirror even if i am driving a car with one. I have gotten used to using the side one's and if turned right you shouldnt have much of a blind spot.
On your question about the top. My car jumped from 148-149 to 152-153 after sealing the top and bottom from the back. It made a huge diff.
Just some of my thoughts. Good luck!

hey man you don't need to see out the back. i also learned to drive with a wall behind me it was more exciting. and about that zeus, i have 5 of those and man even at 2 ohm mono all 5 sound sweet, some of the 4 chanel goliaths i played with had a problem with the rca's inside the amp, and if you really don't like the amp you could be a nice guy and sell it to me, i mean i wouldn't mind at all to take it off your hands, would't be able to pay you what you bought it for but we could work somthing out, i got the hookup and would be willing to trade for it if you needed anything well over it's value maybe some more power for your vegas, sorry if it sounds like i'm begging but i love these amps man and i think i want to put two of them to each of my subs this season so lets make a deal.

you said that it was new, i really havent paid more than five bills for any of the one's that i have now so that would be my first offer if it is not to low, a couple of posts ago i noticed that you were looking for some components so i could help you there if you needed plus what hk's do you have maybe i could hook you up with a couple more or somthing to that line.

well if you would take less i can handle that LOL. and no way did hifonics get bought out. steve cook and jim sakaley were world champs this year using hifonics, this year things went kind of slow at API,aka hifonics. but things are geting back together after they cleaned house and soon will be going stroger than ever. so how do i get ahold of you i can have the cash in two weeks at the most, and where do you live i really don't like to buy things through the mail, not that i don't trust you i just would like to see the amp first, but if you live to far to do that i will take your word for it, if you don't feel right posting your phone and address just email me at spankdawg@hotmail.com and we can then work out the details

-------
Since when did Audio Products Inc, purchase Sound Around Inc, the parent company of Pyramid & Legacy & Lanzar. That would be news to most (everyone) on here.

API runs Hifonics, Crunch, and FuzzBuster(sp?)

You know what...I am a jackass...you guys are probably right...I got my letters all screwed up probably...sorry...and to think that I once thought that I knew everything. ;-)

I could swear though that Crunch was bought by Pyramid like 4 years ago...we used to carry Crunch back in 1991/92 and it was some good stuff until they got bought out and it went to crap...way overrated specs etc...

Sorry about the mix up guys/gals

I thought Sakely was dropping Hifonics since he couldn't get any support anyhow???

I live in the L.A area. Glendora. Its near pasadena, west covina, ect.. The only damage to the amp is on one of the little black seperators between speaker output's. half of it broke off. But no heatsink damage or anything.
I thought I saw a post in here or something saying something about pyramid and hifonics.
My 600w HK's over heat after 15-20min at full power. Im gonna cry when I get rid of the zues. It did'nt even get warm. but the Hk's sound much better.
