OK I'll help a brutha out.. You know I am the aspiring SPL worshipper here! And I will be able to prove it after I go to whichever school I finally decide on and save up (lots of) money to experiment with.. MUWHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!! > Anyway, as an idea, how about flat walls -vs- V or W walls and how each is better than the other. We had a conversation on the chat about this, and I was kind of confused about what was said afterwards. Just an idea.

That sounds like a cool topic I don't have a ton of experience but I do know I haven't seen a huge gain or loss with V's of a conventional nature. I have seen drawbacks to deep v's or tunnels. I know, I need to scan and post a pic of my old 5 18's wall

Well, I have some thoughts about possible threads... First, Techie you have to change you font color, its too close to the back ground shade and its hurtin my eyes man... Ok now possible threads, how about some sneaky tricks to make MAX spl??? Or perhaps Box building secrets for making more noise, Dukk and his ports?!? Dampening your vehicle to get more, etc, etc.....

One thing that I would like to know is what degree of V is generally the best for Spl, and which for Sq. Tech, what are yours? I'm thinking about either 60 or 90 degrees.

First is this a better color? Second I was meaning this conference's activity has been a little lean. Not my activity Third I just got Dukk's ports in my wall tonight...HARD! Anyway we'll see what this posts this weekend hopefully. Last, I'd have to guess my V's are in the 60o range. And I don't seem to have a problem with SPL or SQ. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Oh for the time and money to just build boxes and meter them all day

T-man, love the new color!!! I was not blaming you for anything I was simply trying to start some new threads and attract some buisness if ya know what I mean... I got a question for the Master-T... How did you manage to get SQ with a wall of 15"s in sealed boxes also used for SPL??? I am contemplating my graduation from 12"s to some 15"s and since I plan on doing the sames as you with SQ/SPL I was kinda wondering???

I converted from a wall os 8 12's to a v of 16 12's. I also went from 600 watts to 2400 watts. theoredically I should have gained 9db. my best last year was 142.3 at 47 hz, this year it's 154.8 at 53 hz. for a total of 12.5 db gain. maybe it was my notes increase, but I don't know if it would have given me a 3.5db increase for just 6 hz. my single v is also a 60 degree angle. any thoughts?
How much power were you giving your 8 12s ? That is an awful low number, my guess is something was wrong with that setup. That is why you gained 12 Db instead of 9....JMO

Don't let Dukk see that! He will think there is a chat room for ports and we will never hear from him again! Posts: 5353 | From: Nash-Vegas, TN | Registered: May 1999

Yep 8 18's, LOL Sir S. Well, sealed boxes are versatile in that they don't seem to roll off as fast on the low end when there way to small. And I can eq the subs back flat again for SQ and RTA with my EQL and the two parametrics I have. I keep them at a very low volume, obviously, for SQ judging and there x-over'd real low, 50hz. I feel hefty mid bass drivers up front are necessary since seperates don't do 50hz and up with any authority. I did the 8's in the doors for that. With the 18's crossed over so low and played so low they can actually sound tame. Last show tone scores: (1-5) Highs 5, mid 4, mid bass 5, sub 4. And that was a triple point SQ+. When I do SPL I break out the podium. This goes around everything in the system except the Power 1000. The podium cd player goes into a x-over then a line driver with a built in solid state burp circuit. Then it leaves the podium for the amp. This allows me to go wild with the 18's for SPL with little preperation. It's almost two different stereo systems.

600 watts for the 8 ,75 watts apiece. they were in two triple chamber bandpass enclosures. sounded nice low , but I couldn't get too much above the 50hz mark. each box had two woofers firing into the center chamber and two firing into the cab. with a hifonics atlantis...hehe ,but now I,m running mmats and I'm very happy! now I need to just get the freq. of my cabin up a little.

Um... 18"s... I knew that, just testing you guys he he he?!? Now that my foot is out of my mouth... Ok, well I was going to, um, I actually have no clue what I am going to do now... I was going with 3 eclipse 8812.6, but now I am leaning toward 4 RF DVC either 15" or 12"... I am fortunate to have a symmetry epx2, so the podium thing will be easy... Now I have to figure out how I am going to do this in a regular cab truck without making it look like I have anything... Any thoughts, or input toward subs??? It's like choosing ice cream, soooo many flavors, so little time....

Well, I'm almost fed up to the point that I'm just gonna go buy the basis for my dragger here some time soon...... a '82-87 Civic Flatback. Maybe with a year of buying stuff slowly, I'll be able to actually outfit it! 48 10s is gonna take a while.... My problem is finding a Civic of that vintage that runs decent, isn't too rusted or crunched, and isn't too much $$. I'd like to find a nice runner with a garbage interior, since it's comingout anyway, but haven't had much luck. Still looking....
Oh, we do usually wind up talking ports on chat. More and more on the darkside all the time!!
