Just curious as to if there will be a NW class in the 2002 season. And if there is i have a few suggestions ( just my personal opinion ) For me in my explorer, i only have about 13 inches tall before i go above my window line. So the only way i could possibly face my 18 is up ( not even sure if that'll work i havn't measured the depth of my sub). So i've been trying to think of a better idea than the window line. What about a surface area percentage?? ... say 70% like if you have a car which inside you have a 48in x 40in cabin surface area (48x40=1920sq in), 70% of 1920 = 1344, so you will be able to have a box that is the full width - 48in, and 28in tall which would be 70% of the availiable area, get it? or how about the box has to be so many inches from the ceiling, say 12? or 18, something like that. Anyone else feel this way?? all ideas are appreciated.
Thanks, Kevin Young

if you have a limit from the cieling then people with vans would have a large advantage. imagine a van with a box only 12 or 18 inches from the cieling.

you should have about 15" below the window line in the cargo area of yor explorer....it still sucks though.
I think they should change the part about the box being below the lowest part of the front windows. The rule should be that the enclosure can't come above any part of the windows in the area where the enclosure resides (cargo area windows or back seat area windows).
Actually, I just really wish they would allow 15s in the street class.

ian verry true maybe that's not such a good idea. But they still have an advantage as of now (havn't measured the window line of say an astro or something but i'm guessing they have a lot more space) cause if you tak out the seats of astro's you have LOTS of room. And yes in the back (cargo area) of my explorer i have about 15 inches but when i fold the back seats down i have about 13 inches to work with behind the seats.

Man, I say leave NW the way it is...some cars are better for some classes...sucks that your isn't good for no wall so pick another class...it is as simple as that, they need rules that are easy to judge...below the windows is easy to judge...making it 70% the area or the plane behind the door jamb times pi plus the sin of the angle of your windshield is never gonna be able to be judged...see what I am saying... keep it simple.
