I have a question about the meters that the different orginizations use. I have always been told they are only accurate to 175 db. With scores, especially in extreme and outlaw getting so close to that(and by some results I have read past that) how confident can competitors be their score is accurate if it is very close to 175db?? As confident as anyone could be about anything? How confident would you be that your doing 160 in a Viper with a speedometer that has been calibrated to 160?

Well going on that I have seen a AC meter read as high as 196.6. When we were playing with it. Was that accurate..Hell no. Also I have never seen a legit number for SPL go over 175.

Thats what I was saying... if you see a number higher than the meter is calibrated for, it's total BS, but if it's within the calibration, it's pretty much legit. Spiking a mic will generally show the highest reading a meter can physically show.
