I have 4 15W6 in a ported enclosure in an extended cab Ranger. The enclosure is tuned to 45hz. This enclosure provides a nice hump around 55-60hz. I received the info from JL Audio. I am using (2) 3inch ports, 8.5 inches long per woofer. Enlcosure size is 1.75 cubic feet per woofer after displacement. I was only able to pull a 149.8. I know I should be able to go higher than that. Any help would be appreciated. This is setup in a vertical wall.

P.S. If anyone is in the Illinois-Wisconsin area and want to attend a small SPL event. Absolute Sound in McHenry IL. (815) 363-0700.

What meter did you get that number on and are you certain of your EXACT resonant frequency?

I'd be doing some testing on the truck and see what your resonant is. You also neglected to mention what amplifiers your running, is it possible that you need more power? I think that 149.8 with 4 15's is not too terribly shabby... but you should be able to get more with some experimentation and the right note.

STILL waiting to hear a GOOD pair of HLCD's!!

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

I am runnin a pair of Crossfire 1000D's. I am presenting each amp with a 1.5 ohm load. How do I find my resonant frequency and what do I do after I find it to gain more SPL.
Thanks for the previous and future. responses guys.

Well if you find the Res freq of the car you Just burp the system for a second of 2 at that freq. You save power and the heating up of amps and subs. Also by fniding that freq you can increase SPL and save subs and amps.

Get access to a meter...or even buy a cheap radio shack meter...Play at a low level and see what freq your system is loudest at.

This is one way and you can find the res freq. I know it is not the only way..

You can take measurements of your car to get the res of the car, then tune your enclosure to that freq. If you dont have a clue what your note is, you can run a sweep in the lane from about 100 down, hitting every cycle, very briefly. I dont like that idea, however, it ****s your amp dry in the process..

My method.....if you've got a couple friends or if you build a car every so often is to go buy a cheap RELIABLE woofer of the 10-15" variety and play around with it until you get a nice flat response enclosure.....SEALED most likely. Turn off all Eq's, boosts, processors of any kind....you can leave your x-over, but bump it up to about 100-120 hz. Now, throw that box in your car in roughly the same location as your setup will be in....ie, firing off hatch, behind a seat, doesn't matter. Now go through and play individual tones from 35-85 hz at relatively low levels....less than 120 probably so you're not gobbling up power. Just follow what the meter tells you. If you've got a flat response out of your enclosure and play each individual tone you should be able to get a range which plays just slightly louder. If you've got a fairly large range, you might have to play it marginally louder and keep experimenting til you get those couple notes that play louder. More than likely they will be in a little group. Now you know what your box needs to be tuned to. Not rocket science.
