I am currently building a SPL system in a 96 Ford Ranger extended cab. The system consists of 4 JL audio 15W6's in a ported enclosure. This is in a wall configuration. I will be running a 1000 Watt Class D Crossfire to each pair of speakers. There is an upcoming show on October 23. My arch rival has a 99 Ford Explorer with 9 JL Audio 12W3's firing up towards the roof. He is running a 1000 Watt DEI amp to each set of three. Even though he has more cone area than I, I have less cabin space. Which should be louder. He claims to have hit 156dB with one of those multimeter spl meters. Are those meters accurate? Any educated guesses or answers from experience would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well for one, the W6 isnt exactly the best spl sub. But with a 15" of anything your going to hit some preety good numbers. As for the Multimeter spl mics I dont think they are acurate, if they were- a lot more people would use them. They do work great for estimating your spl range and finding your highest frequency range though.
