hey there, the set up is a sealed enclosure w/ 4 12" earthquake magma's with radiators, these are powered by a single rf 1100. vehicle is a 97 ford expedition, should the box be brought all the way up to the rear door, or can it be directly behind the back seats (keep in mind that i am not utilizing the 3rd row of seats). What kind of bass response and spl should i expect in either position?? all opinions are greatly appreciated. thanks

The only way is to try it all positions. pionting up, back, forwards. Box in back, front, passenger seat.... Give them all a try if posable. Most of the time you will hear the loudest when the box is pointed at the back window reflexing of of it.

ive found me and my friends all hit at least 1 db higher, when the speakers are facing the rear, all the way back, so it bounces off, and pushes the spl forward!

i've noticed all the replies are similar, aiming to rear(box NEAR the rear-no more than 12"or so from rear)to realize the most SPL. Ever notice how HORN tweeters are so much louder than other types? Now think of your sub box as the source and the interior shape of the rear of your vehicle as the "bell" of the horn. thats why i think facing rear magnifies the output so well.(although the drawback is the rear exterior of vehicle gets rattled to no end(de-bug time).
