Current Nspl rules allow rear seats to be folded down.

If you pull out one battery you can run trunk 3601-up. You're allowed three extra batteries in that class plus the one under the hood for four batteries total. To run extra batteries I would guess you would go to a no-wall class.

Also amp technology has come a ways since then, that should help as well. It doesn't look like there is a limit on cone area either! NSPL rules should facilitate a 155 fairly easily. Do it under DB Drag street A/B rules and you ARE the man!

Not to discount Stiers at all for his work, but even he said to me his score would tank if the back seat had to be locked in place.

His setup was for seat down only, which of course is not allowed in NSPL.

Stiers did an incredible number from the trunk and under Street rules, however. [Cool]

There is really no way to compare dB Drag trunk cars to NSPL trunk cars.

I saw seats down at NSPL finals from two trunk vehicles civic and altima both 147,9 in the 0-1800 watt class??
Do you mean if the set is not an oem folddown?

NSPL now allows seats to be folded down. Back when Steve did the 153 in the trunk class the rules were that you had to have the seats folded and locked in the upright position. Fred eliminated that rule for the 2008 season I believe.

My reference to Stiers score was made considering current NSPL rules(please read) allow seat to be folded down, multiple batteries, car running, and no limit on cone area. Remember he did that score car off, one battery under the hood, 2 strapped amps, and 2 10" subs...not 12's or 15's. The point I was making is that it should be ALOT easier under NSPL rules to obtain the 155 mark. Although, a setup designed and tuned for seats folded up may have some issues once the seats are folded down. Im sure it will ultimately be louder but perhaps not immediately. Tuning may change and of course the subs may unload with all that pressure let out of the trunk. This will be not only interesting but very cool to see. The 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am is another good trunk car. I have done a weak 145 and change with 1000 watts with 2 10" American Bass DX subs in a prefab box. The box was tuned to 35Hz, the car peaked at 54. That was subs back port back, seat folded down on 1 red top and one run of 4 gauge with chassis grounds.

Eric...I will give you credit...you know what you're talking about here, because since my set-up was designed and tuned for seat up.My score dropped when I laid the seat all the way forward, but with the seat up,with about an 8 inch opening at the top,my score increased by 1.8db [Eek!] [Wink]

Mike used two 12's Street A was 12's and Street B was 15's back in 2003.
The new Street C class and a converted street A class was introduced Feb 2004.
Mike's Neon went to Street B for 2004.

I agree! If Mike's Neon was competing today you looking at 155 EASY.
Just imagine if he had four XX Golioths and two DD9912 Z's and three extra NSBg3100's? or four Cactus 9K's?? 156-157 from the trunk if Mike could fit all that his trunk.

That's exactly what I was getting at. I have to believe Mr. Sears will be able to top a 155. I have to wonder what could be done with 4 Batcap 8400's or at least just 3 in the trunk on 2 big amps or 4 smaller ones, not to mention a seat down retune.

LOL. I can't imagine 2 DD Z's and 4 Cactus 9K's would be cheap either! Ok, how about 4 American Bass 500.1's on 3-4 NSB G3100's, amps strapped at .7 maybe as low as .35, take your pick on subs.

There's a Canadian that supposely hit a certified 153.9 from the trunk using four 500.1's two 10's and two yellow tops. Thats a lot of equipment in the trunk,I wonder what kind of car? I think Jordy left a link to some stats.
