This is to announce that the judging format for the Consumer SPL, Unmodified Speaker SPL, and Modified Speaker SPL will change with a new twist. The rules will stay the same only the method of judging the vehicles will be different. Once a competitor enters the lane they may be running through at the sametime as another competitor. The twist is that the trip to the lanes will require two readings with a 60 second break between each run. The competitors two scores are then averaged together and recorded to list 1st-4th. Then the top two scores will battle head to head for a final run to determine who will get first place. This will make a lot of things intresting such as what if someone has a system malfunction on one of the two runs. If say they hit a 162.1 on the first run, but one blown sub and 60 seconds later they hit a 160.0. Their score is averaged as follows 162.1+160.0=322.1 then divided by 2=161.05 Another competitor in the same class hits a 161.8 on both runs. The most consistent vehcile will take first place, but the Final SPL Elimination Run will determine the winner. The second place competitor will get a chance to retake first if he can put up that 162.1 .....hmmm? Also, the loudest score will recieve lane choice in the final round. All competitors will remain in the check lane during the event so to maintain a fast and furious pace. Who will be the ultimate SPL ELIMINATOR and take home the Iron SPL 8ft tall Monster trophy! Dateline September 1-2, 2001 N.S.P.L. Finals who will be crowned king of the SPL World. This format will also be open invitation for competitors from anywhere on the planet. The first place winners in each class will be the world record holder for 2001 in their respected class.

Actually guys, I think it pans out to be pretty simple, unless I missed the bus as well. But think of it as a mini enduro...almost...with some vehicles able to put up a nasty number or two straight of the charger this will allow those same vehicles to put there SPL where the batteries are. LIke NSPL175 said, the most consistent car will take it all. The head to head idea sorta adds a little more intensity know what I mean? You run a class at once and no one is running around going back and forth to the big board!
Then again I could be wrong...

I never thought that people so intrested in running up to 4 rounds of DB Drag in one day would back down from the Eliminator Challenge. I mean the most consistent will reign and everyone else well thats why its called competition. The one run one shot will be only for the regular competition formats such as Trunk, Beginner, Amateur, and Pro. The cone area crowd, now here we have the special people the individuals who can run as much power as they like with number of subs being the main classification. The idea of two back to back runs with 1 miniute between them for charge up or change a fuse.... opps their will only be one minute. If a car is prepared with the utmost skill it can pop the same score twice....unless you break something of course. Now if you add the two scores together and divide them by two you have the average score. After the top four scores have been recorded, first place score must battle second place in an final elimination round. In IDBL you get two runs that are averaged together to determine who will win, with the top score winning. In DB Drag you sit and you watch the first round on slaughter of competitors who in some cases just came to have fun. That's right number 1 qualifier against the big threat number 8. Only to see the number one qualifier later in some cases eliminate the second loudest car at the show which winds up in third place. (In case anyone is lost about the last sentence check out the example of typical results of a DB Drag) 1st Da Man 168.2 db 2nd I should be in third place 164.3 3rd I was eliminated by number one 167.8
If you did not get the example then this particular situation has not happened to you yet.....but it will.
In short SPL Eliminator will put the number one score against the number two score period and not waisting time beating up on people who are 3 db lower in score. The Challege is on Sept 1-2 are you up to it or .....NOT that's the question?
Alright let's here from the masses to see how everyone else feels.

I'll be there anyways, but, I'm dumb. You're gonna HAVE to draw this one out on paper for me.
Last time I went to the Finals, no one could figure out what class to put me in, so, I just got in line, burped the truck, gave ya a number, and told Fred to figure it out.
But, I'm just simple...been listening to my truck tooooooo long.

Now there are the fearless N.S.P.L. competitors that I know and love. The classes and rules for the vehicles stay the same just trying to make the runs more intresting. This year finally each run will be announced (where everyone can hear this time) and scores posted to keep everyone informed. We want the manufacturers reps that are there to know who is doing what and with what. A few will be there supporting there competitors by attending and some will be there with booths. Stay tuned as the information continues to unfold.

Sounds pretty sweet if you ask me! I've never done this type of comp before but it sounds a little fairer to trunk cars than Db Drags. My friend Derrick Williams told me I should try this. Are there any qualifications that need to be met? (ie: points, registered as a memeber) Also, were is this held? I saw that it is Sept 1-2. -Mike

You must be a member. As for the points requirements if you e-mail Fred Jr. he can tell you all about it. Check out http://www.nsplcompetition.com for more information and how to contact Fred Jr..
NSPL just about has a class for everyone.

All of the Cone Area classes will be open. You don't have to have any points to compete in the cone classes.
I think the new format will be exciting and fun. I can't wait til finals.

The points qualification will be lifted an in is an open invitation for the Consumer, Unmodified SPk SPL, and Modified SPk SPL. You will be required to get a membership at the show and you can register at the show. The event is going to be held at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart in Charlotte, N.C. on Sept 1-2. We are hoping for a big showing from the other SPL regions of the country because a first place finish will be the world record holder in that respective class.

Thanks for the info. What are the Consumer and the Unmodified SPK SPL formats? This is jibberish to me...I appologize for my ignorance. I'd like to get in a trunk class so I'm not bullied too much if it's going to be available? -Mike

American Bass Man what class do you compete in for DB Drag. Also, what is the size, MSRP price of the subs, and how many amps power your subbass section. Reason I am asking is because this pertains to the Consumer Classes for more info go to the website www.nsplcompetition.com and go to the rules section.

I can understand about the roof over your head part. Been pulling my hair out for a month or more about houses and such, and now the damned finance companies won't even get off their butt to look at the paperwork in a timely manner.
Course once the house is all said and done with, the escort can go into the garage for it's metamorphises (sp)

Thanks for your help. I have 4 sets of subs, all different manufacturers, range from 110 each retail to around 300each. I compete in street 1-2 and have one amplififer. I think I saw that I have to have subs under 200bucs each or something so I think that I will have to run my American Bass's and they are 12's. -Mike
