It seems that people are not understanding the need or purpose of Street Stock. These classes are being designed so that more Manufacturers, Dealer and new competitors will be encouraged and welcomed to participate in dB Drag.
I have seen many people complain that they carry lines that may or may not be members of dB Drag. Well, I believe that once this ball gets rolling, they just might want to get on board. No manufacturer gets a free pass in these classes. You must be a member of dB Drag, put dB Drag on your product boxes, actively educate and encourage your brick and mortar shops to hold events, and encourage their customers to come to those events.
It is really a big circle. dB Drag and the current member base want to see the organization grow and have more support and more members. This increased participation and support will only happen through encouragement. Wayne is proposing a set of classes that will allow for Retailers to sell their customer a pair of 1000watt subs and a 2000watt amplifier (EX), install it, and have them come to a show and be competitive. If done correctly, the shop owner can make money hosting this event as well as advertise their shop and the products they carry. Through this increased interest, the shop owner will want to sell more of brand A because they are seeing people be competitive and market the product they carry in a class designed for this exact purpose.
The Manufacture of brand A is happy to see the increased sales by this shop and begin seeing the rewards of supporting dB Drag. This manufacturer may choose to send raffle items, posters, t shirts etc to the shops that carry their products and participate in hosting these events.
If a certain manufacturer isn't participating in this structure, they can be encourged by shop owners, sponsored competitors that are members of dB Drag and even by seeing the positive rewards for supporting this structure as the season moves forward.
Nothing against internet sales or internet based companies, but what are they doing to help dB Drag? Maybe Wayne can work with some internet based companies if they are willing to support this structure etc? But, the purpose is to increase participation of the new competitors (customers for the brick and mortar shops), retailers and manufacterers.
Over the years you have seen Kenwood, Alpine, Rockford and many other companies walk away from dB Drag because there was nothing beneficial for them or their dealers. By introducing this structure and making these companies aware of the intentions of these classes, they may be encouraged to come back and begin supporting dB Drag, competitors and events once more.

Well said. Ive been trying to bring newbes in but when they get placed in street a and have to run Terry Brocks they are going to get crushed. So they see it as whats the point. I would love to see manufacterers back in the sport.

The idea is great and when it gets going it should work out well. Let's just hope it won't take too long to get the approved list going. With all the car shows going on there will now be a class for some of the "tuner" cars to get involved and hopefully we'll be able to get some drags shows going at these car shows.
